Gary, if I cared, I would worry about you, you just quoted YOUR OWN POST.

Back on topic.

If you really want to spend some quality time outside the home you should consider voluntary work. There are hundreds of organisations out there that need volunteers with skills and time. My mum started a voluntary care center when she retired that has now provided help and assistance to her local community for more than 24 years. She has a lot to look back on and feel proud of and these organisations do not care what you believe in or if you believe in nothing at all, despite what Danno might think ;)

The rest of the posts in this thread are one line personal insults, lame jkes and clueless tweets. Why would I copy them? A MOD will come along and delete all the personal insults and anyone that quoted, therby removing my prose without my knowledge. It is for the posterity of VJ that I quote myself.

You're welcome.

When he does what you suggest, he will be asked to fill out an application and provide his SSN and phone number and other information. Alla volunteer's for the hospital and had to provide all her information. They need this in orde to exempt themselves from the requirement for payroll taxes, etc. Volunteers are a closely regulated commodity as what they do is regulated as well as the hours they work. The IRS does not like anyone "volunteering" that is not in a qualified volunteer job.

Since his goal was avoid giving out that information...the volunteer idea basically sucks. He will still give out his information and NOT get paid.

Go back, copy MY post and go from there. Working fro YOURSELF requires no disclosure of personal information and can "pay" very well.

You do realise Gary, that the post you quoted only contained the OP's original post? Your post was not in any danger of redaction . Any other excuses you can come up with for your bizarre behaviour?

No Gary, his goal was to get out the house and do something more useful than posting on VJ. If you don't want to help others and do something useful with your free time and volunteer in your community now you are unemployed because voluntary work sucks and you do not get paid (surprise, surprise) then don't. I am sure your community will get along nicely without your help.

The idea is clueless. I am so surprised

The first thing you will do is fill out an application and provide your SSN. They need that to verify they are legally using the "volunteer" loophole for tax withholding. You will give out the info you wanted to protect and get paid nothing.

Anything beyond volunteering at the local high school bake sale is going to require that you provide that info. You may even need to do it for that. These are 501 C 3 corporations with strict tax compliance regulations to protect their status. They cannot just have people "working" as volunteers and not document who they are and what they do.

Feel free to actually read the first post...or better yet, the title of the thread.

Good grief.

What do you guys think

I am super bored and spend way too much time on here being abused by Penny:)

So I decided to apply for a part time job. maybe 15-20 hours a week in the AM,just to get out of the house. I applied at a couple of the big box home improvement stores and at a

local grocery chain to work in the Deli. like interacting with people.

Long story short, in order to apply, on line I might add, you have to give your SSN and DL#

Freaking A this seems a bit intrusive.

i mean i understand if they are interested and want to seriously consider me or hire me they need it. But to just drop an application that god knows who has access to.

I apologize, NB, for those than cannot read a whole post. But feel free to check out what is required to volunteer.

So sorry Gary, you are so right, his main objective is never to reveal his SSN to anyone, ever.

Oh wait, what a suprise Gary, you are wrong, again. His objection was NOT that he had to give out his information ON AN ACTUAL JOB APPLICATION, but that he had to provide it simply to sign up for the potential of getting job applications.

i mean i understand if they are interested and want to seriously consider me or hire me they need it. But to just drop an application that god knows who has access to.

You know Gary, you should consider posting based on what people actually post, rather than simply contradicting posts of people you don't like simply because you don't like them. You might start making more sense. Just a suggestion smile.png

What was disturbing to me, was not that I had to give it..It is the point in the process i have to give..Just filling out an application at a Kiosk, should not require you to give SSN and DL#.

They probably get hundreds a week and may not be hiring

I don't mind giving it, if they are intrested or I am going to volunteer

As for volunteer work, it would be just to kill time..As far as I am concerned 10 bucks per hour and Zero bucks per hour would have about the same effect on my life.

We should get it over with and have the chip implanted now.

In the not too distant future any poor ####### with bad credit won't be able to get a job and be forced to either beg for money or commit crimes.

What a bleak future, I'm glad I won't be here to see it.
