I think you will find this video absolutely amazing on just how fast a fire in your home can start and spread. Consider this scenerio at 3:00 AM in your living room. Are you and your family prepared to survive this? This may change your mind on having a live tree in your home. Here are a few holiday fire safety tips to keep in mind:

1. If you have a live Christmas tree in your home, keep it well watered and away from heating and ignition sources (vents, furnaces, and fireplaces)

2. Use extra caution with candles. Don't leave home or go to sleep with them lit. Have plenty of clearence from combustibles (This time of year we see a peak in candle fires through the holiday season)

3. Christmas tree lights should be unplugged when you leave home and when you go to bed.

4. Have smoke alarms on every level of your home AND in each bedroom.( Makes a great Christmas gift for loved ones)

5. Sleep with your bedroom doors closed. (Gives you added protection from smoke and heat and allows more time to escape)

6. Have a family escape plan that everyone knows. (Make sure the kids know how to open the bedroom windows or be prepared to break the glass)

7.Have a designated meeting place. (Do a head count once everyone is outside. That's one of the first things we want to know when we arrive if everyone is account for)

8. Once your outside, Stay out. NEVER go back inside a burning structure.

it makes me more aware and extra cautious with all my electric lights and outlets here in my house and also teach and remind my son and everybody al the safety measures!
