I'm not a fan of the death penalty but I think this verdict may just be right in this case. Should make potential rapists think twice whether it's worth the risk.

NEW DELHI — Four men convicted of a brutal gang rape were sentenced Friday to die by hanging, a decision met with satisfaction on the part of the victim’s parents and triumphant cheers from the crowd outside the courthouse, where some held up makeshift nooses and pictures of hanging bodies.

The four men — a fruit vendor, a bus attendant, a gym handyman and an unemployed man — were found guilty on Tuesday of raping a young woman on a moving bus last December, penetrating her with a metal rod and inflicting grave internal injuries, then dumping her on the roadside.

The country was riveted by the story of the woman, who died of her injuries two weeks later, and tens of thousands of people flooded the streets to demand tougher policing and prosecution of sex crimes.

They should hang them by their private parts.

Are the hangings public?

I'm not for it, but in this case I hope so.

I remember the story of this womans rape being posted here when it happened, by AJ if I remember correctly.

Imo, the death penalty isn't good enough for these animals. They deserve a very slow and torturous death.

I'm thinking some Doctor Who style punishments.

Good. But no doubt their executions will be merciful. Their victim died a horrific, torturous death. They deserve to suffer the way she suffered.

Hanging is a pretty shitty way to die. And it's a pretty strong message that is sent. Should be more than sufficient as a deterrent.

Just becuase these four losers decided to brutalize a woman in a manner that not even animals would brutalize their prey doesn't mean that society now ought to lower itself to their level. Think the message that this verdict is to convey is that it is NOT OKAY to rape and brutalize. You don't send that messages by doing the same.
