Something VERY Odd happened...

Hey everyone

i am in a odd situation here and hopefully others in similar situation can shed some light. I am adjusting from B1/B2 visa and my interview has been schduled for 24th Sep. We've been waiting and trying to prepare for the big day until i got this notification today that my cae has been updated. I went to USCIS website and discovered that i485 is updated to following:

Card/ Document Production
On September 12, 2013 we mailed the document to the address we have on file. You should receive the new document within 30 days. If you do not, or if you move before you get it, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

This step applies to applications that result in an applicant receiving a card (such as a "green card") or other document (such as a naturalization certificate, employment authorization document, travel document, or advance parole). Applications will be in this step from the time the order to produce the card/document is given until the card/document is produced and mailed to the applicant. You can expect to receive your card/document within 30 days of the approval of your application.

If you do not receive your document, please contact our National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283.

Now i have no idea what is this about, my wishful thinking was that they could have approved the case without interview and the doc is GC. I know it is possible with K1 visas but mine is B1 and B1 is never approved without interview. Anyways i was so confused and at the same time hoping it is what i think it is, i called USCIS and spoke to Tier 2 rep, and seriously, i have NO idea how are those people hired, is this what Tier 2 professionals are like? then God help US immigration. Anyway totally unhelpful guy told me to 'listen to him' and attend the interview because this is a mistake. That's all he said after i had to repeat my question some 100 times.

Has anyone here experienced something like this before?

I'd still attend the 9/24 interview.

While it seems you received approval notice, it could've been a mistake, they've been known to happen. You didn't receive interview cancellation notice so do attend your interview with your spouse and make sure you bring any and all documents of bona fide marriage.

It's a mistake. Either you are not approved and the online status is wrong, or you were incorrectly approved.

I would definitely go to the interview and bring this issue up right at the beginning.

Ah well yeah i am definitely attending interview, we will know for sure by then what it is about. If they've mailed something or if it's a mistake, fingers crossed. But i guess i shouldn't have my hopes up too high. Since it also states it's a 'doc' not a card. Now even if it's a doc, what can it be possibly? employment authorization document? i Have already received my EAD card.

Just out of curiosity, has anyone from B1/B2 ever approved without interview? i remember someone posted a similar question a month ago, but i think they never came back to the forum again to update the status.

It is impossible to adjust from a B2 without an interview. Any concurrent I-130/I-485 application requires an interview, by law.

So, it's a mistake. The online system is not reliable and prone to error. It's not even really connected to your case.
