I am 21 years older than my husband, it was never an issue. he has been here safe and sound for a year

That is nothing, my Filipino wife is 36 years younger than me, and we are fine!

I've worried a bit about this too. My husband is 13 years older than I am. But I'm sure as long as you have enough evidence (photos, emails, affidavits, ect...) then there isn't too much to worry about.

They do this stuff daily, I'm sure that they can tell who's real and who's not, by now. I wouldn't freak over it. Just be prepared! good.gif

*As Lost_At_Sea stated, this stuff is more for the interview, than the petition* smile.png

My fiancé is 13 years older than I am as well. Some other VJers have much younger fiancées or wives. 19-56 and 22-65, I read their posts the other day. Both of us are safe and would be fine, tongue.png

I am not worried too much since we've been in relationship more than 5 years now and I've met one of US Embassy Consular Officers in Jakarta for my job assigment a while ago. He told me, their COs are well trained to determine whether someone is lying or tell the truth.

The bottom line is- as long as the relationship is real - nothing is really need to worry about. kicking.gif

Hello to everyone!

This is my first post. I filed our I-129F on August 23rd. I've read (googleing around the internet) that an age difference can be a reason for rejection of the application. Of course now i'm worried about it. My fiance is younger than I am and our age difference probably wouldn't be an issue if it was the man who was younger but that's not the case. Does anyone know if age difference matters for any reason?

To the OP, just out of curiosity, how big of an age difference are we talking about?

Yes, but looking at the country, it isn't surprising. I'm sorry you were denied :(

However, as Lost_at_Sea said earlier in the posts, some countries it will be a big red flag if the woman is older than the man because of their "child bearing age" beliefs. That and Nigeria is one of the toughest immigration locations.

K1 cases where there is a large age difference like this one are always challenging. In my experience there is some sexism that comes into play and it is even more difficult for a woman to obtain a fiance visa for a man who is much younger. It is common for older men to marry younger woman but not so common for younger men to marry older woman so you have to make a very strong case that the relationship is legitimate and not for immigration purposes only. If you have been together for more than 3 years and have visited each other many times then I would think you could make a strong case but there are no guarantees in cases like this.

Very sorry to hear about your denial but age alone is not a reason for denial. Once the initial sting has worn off a bit you need to look at the situation as a whole and consider your plan to move forward.
