I am a US Citizen and I was petitioning my mom to come over here in the US. And now she has an interview sheduled this month.

So I'm here wondering if anyone could share what kind of questions the Manila Embassy staff asked to your parents during their interview. I get nervous thinking about my mom specially she doesn't really know how to speak english:) I really appreciate your input guys. That would be so helpful for my Mom's interview soon. Thanks a lot guys!

During our interview, since I have with me my two year child, we were given priority queue numbers (5000) along with the senior citizens. Based on my observations, those with young children and senior citizens, USEM will allow one companion.

I am from Cebu and the Filipino pre-screener asked in advance if I need an interpreter (Tagalog/Bisaya-speaking) when I will be called by the US Consul. There was one male senior citizen from Cebu also, accompanied by his son to USEM, during his interview with the US Consul, the senior citizen had difficulties hearing the lady consul, probably due to his age. I overheard the US Consul, saying nicely, " Sir, is there a need for an interpreter?... Okay Sir, I will find you a Bisaya-speaking interpreter".

They were then assisted by a bisaya-speaking USEM staff. The questions asked to the senior citizen were: who is your petitioner, what is your relationship with the petitioner, address in the US..thats all I could remember smile.png

I am sure your mother will do fine.good.gif

When did you file your I-130?

When did NVC fianlly approve your petition?

We are doing the same thing but NVC just backed out of our interview date and called the interview letter we received 'a mistake'.

Did you confirm that you actually have an interview??

Thank you Memphis for your shares! Wow, I would be delighted if my sister can come inside to assist my Mom even though they had a Visayan, cebuano or tagalog interpreter:) Their questions are pretty much easy, my mom probably can answer those but I'm worried because she's so panicky lol! I hope I pray that she'll be ok.

Anyway, thanks for the great tips!

Hi Phil, thanks for asking! The petition of my Mom actually took so long because I mislooked the instructions from NVC and that's the cause of delayed. It took 8 months until my Mom received her St Lukes check up. Actually her petitioned got aproved in 3 months and half only. That was very fast approval but because of my carelessness, the completion took too long. SIgh! But anyway, we all have different reasons of why. My Mom had a check up twice last month for her sputum and she will get her final result this coming few days.

My mom told me if the result of her Sputum is negative, then one of the St. Lukes staff will call to the embassy for her immediate interview and she will fly here in the US before the Month of December, otherwise we will file her petition again if she can't come here on or before December, that's what the St Lukes staff told her. So I just hope that her result of suputum is clear, then she can have her interview anytime.

By the way, sorry about the porblems you've had on the petitioning. I hope it will ok soon. Good luck to us!
