Hi everyone

I received my approved NAO2 for my K1 visa on August 29. The flow chart for the k1 visa says that I can call NVC after 2 weeks and see if my case has been received and ask for a case number. However, when i called today the representative got my case number and asked when i received the approval. Once I said the date she didn't even look anything up and said that it takes 8 weeks for them to receive it. I checked their website and it says that 8 weeks are for immigrant visas, not for nonimmigrant visas.

I just want to know, did it take anyone here 8 weeks for NVC to receive their case? How long did you wait to call NVC for them to give you a case number? I just don't want to believe that i have an additional 2 months to wait until i hear anything about my case.

Let's try to get some terms straight first. USCIS deals with Receipt numbers, 3 letter prefix indicating the service center followed by a series of numbers. DOS (which includes NVC) utilize Case file numbers, 3 letter prefix indicating the interviewing embassy/consulate followed by a series of numbers. These two number sets are not the same.

Recent pertinent forum postings seem to indicate that NVC is currently taking longer and longer to assign to do their processing and forward the approved petitions onto the interviewing embassy/consulate. You have to keep calling the NVC, following the instructions in the forum's K-1 Flowchart.

The DOS is usually faster than the USCIS, hang in there.

Good luck.

Congratulations on the approval. Mine took 8 days from the day it was approved. Call department of state, they are much helpful and hold time is less than 5 mins unlike NVC where you hold for 35 minutes.

Mine was sept 16 and still nothing from NVC..

Its so frustrating bc usually like months ago, it does not take them this long to give new case numbers sad.png

Yes, it is frustrating - from what I've been reading on here, it looks like the cases from CSC are taking about 6 weeks at this stage, but those from VSC and TSC are being sent much faster (their reward for having to wait longer for the NOA2 hehe!).

So you'd be looking at around Oct 28th based on your NOA1.

In my case I'm just going to wait and not call until Oct 25th, just to save myself too much stress content.gif
