I had a conversation this morning with my husband about available visas. I had to explain that spousal visas are unlimited.. He then told me on the news in Costa Rica there was a news segmant about how the US is making it easier to apply for available visas online and that they are available..... we don't understand how they can streamline that process but have no problem keeping married couples and families apart because they can't find a way to process efficiently...

The USCIS found a way to eliminate the backlog for K1s by not processing the I-130's......oh.... and the greencard holders are getting their spouses here much faster too.....

Something better happen this week ..... this waiting is so difficult

So I know we've seen that the government shutdown is not supposed to impact USCIS, but I talked to my step-mom yesterday who works in the government. She was telling me how although some jobs were not furloughed, others were that make it impossible for the ones that need to work to get to work. For example: jobs in one building are not furloughed, but the security guard who is in charge of opening the building is furloughed so the people can't get in to work. Or the person who is supposed to sign off on the time sheets is furloughed, so the people working can't get their time sheets signed to get paid.

Makes me nervous that although USCIS may not be directly affected, an accessory part may be and thus actually affect USCIS.

Yeah, i also hope that this week more March filers get some news. This is really tiring. Our petition has hit seven months this weekend.

I'm the beneficiary.

Want to know what's happening with your case? Here's the USCIS tracking page (get an account and see if the case's been 'touched'!). Don't get your hopes up though, some cases never even appear there despite being successfully processed.

I miss my husband so much, it is a pain in my heart. We just don't have the funds to maintain 2 households and me fly there every two months to visit...can't afford it anymore. Please please please USCIS start processing the I-130's. Please.

I hear that. We haven't been going back and forth from the Netherlands because it's too expensive and we can't afford it, so in the meantime, me and our two girls are here, waiting and missing their daddy. It sucks.

I actually did the same thing, but that doesn't mean they will adjudicate your case within those 30 days, they will just send you a notice stating what is going on, and it can possibly take an X amount of months.

I agree, there was service request put on my petition on sept. 27th but I haven't heard anything back. And service request doesn't mean that they will approve it within 30 days, they will just tell us to wait more.

Seriously, is there any way that we can start a campaign about this in media/social media, etc? And get some attention to it? Because I don't think most people have any clue what's going on, and I think they'd be outraged. Maybe shedding some public light on this problem will actually make them do something about it.
