Hey March filers......any updates?

I will update you all on my case as we have had some new developments. In June my case status stopped showing up online. It had always shown up before then. When it stopped showing up, many people said I would get an Approved or RFE soon. So over the next 2 weeks after that I called 3 or 4 times to talk with a tier 2. Everytime the tier 2 person said there was just a problem with the website. My case was at NBC in process don't worry about it. Well.... then I got and RFE in the mail. (I am a USC currently living in Vietnam with my wife) The letter said the RFE was issued on June 5th and I received it on June 25. So it took 20 days by mail to reach me. In those 20 days I had called about 4 times and spoke with a tier 2 who said nothing was wrong....when obviously there was an RFE. Maybe they can not tell me about it on the phone or something.

ANyway, I got the corrections made and more documents sent to correct the RFE and sent it back right away. AFter they receieved it (i trackeded it with UPS) I called to make sure they receieved it. It took almost 2 weeks after they signed for it to be entered into the system. Just today the online status is now working again for my case. It now says it is in RFE Review. So we will see how long this step is before getting a decision.

Just thought I would share some info since not many updates here in out March thread lately. Good luck and I hope we all hear something soon.

Here's an update on our situation. My husband had an Infopass appointment this morning, to discuss the fact that our NOA2 mistakenly states that the beneficiary (me) is already in the US. The person he spoke to was very polite and helpful, and confirmed what we suspected, which is that our file was sent to the National Records Center (NRC), and not the NVC. He said it would take 1-2 weeks for them to get the file sent over from NRC, and then up to 90 days for us to get our NVC case number (that's also how long they told us it could take for our file to get from NBC to NVC, hopefully it will be less than that). I'm relieved that we seem to have the ball rolling again and will finally be able to move on to the next phase.

USCIS:

03/25/2013: I-130 filed from abroad

03/29/2013: NOA1 email received

04/05/2013: NOA1 hard copy received

06/12/2013: NOA2 email received - Approved! (75 days after NOA1)

06/14/2013: NOA2 hard copy received, but mistakenly states that I am already in the US

07/09/2013: Infopass meeting, told file is at NRC, steps taken to retrieve it

07/26/2013: letter from USCIS stating file has been retrieved and sent to NVC

07/30/2013: Infopass meeting, information confirmed

NVC:

07/29/2013: NVC received case, notice sent and received a few days later

08/09/2013: NVC case number assigned

08/11/2013: paid AOS bill (marked as paid 3-4 days after)

08/12/2013: filed DS-261 (electronic version of DS-3032)

08/18/2013: filed I-864 AOS

08/30/2013: paid IV bill (marked as paid 4 days later)

09/04/2013: filed DS-260 (electronic version of DS-230)

09/17/2013: received Checklist

10/09/2013: received Checklist

11/05/2013: received Checklist (argh!!)

12/10/2013: Case complete!

Montreal consulate:

01/13/2014: medical

01/17/2014: interview - Approved!

01/22/2014: Visa issued

01/24/2014: Visa ready for pickup

01/25/2014: POE - Montreal

Okay so I was just looking at my case status on USCIS and it says it was last touched in April but then I noticed the form was titled "IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN". My husband, who is the one who filed, is a USC. Is this an error or is everyone's titled like this?

You are a relative, aren't you? 'For' describes the beneficiary, not the petitioner.

I'm the beneficiary.

Want to know what's happening with your case? Here's the USCIS tracking page (get an account and see if the case's been 'touched'!). Don't get your hopes up though, some cases never even appear there despite being successfully processed.

Sure. I have mentioned it earlier in this thread. You can find where I described it here in the regional forum. Basically a wrong date on a form.

I do not know but I think if your case is showing up online that means someone looked into your file. Is this the first time your case status showing up online since you filed? Were your case with MSC? I would suggest you to call tier2 and find out if it is assigned to anyone. If so you should hear something in couple weeks.

I filed in March but my case is not showing up at all.

The cases being online or not is random. It's possible that it was just transfered to a local office now so that's why it's showing up or just because someone finally logged it into the system. There is no way to tell why some people can see their files and others cannot or why some don't update.

There is a couple here who came over on a K1 and his wife has had citizenship for a couple years now, but his original petition still says "initial review".

Almost all the cases since Aug 15, 2012 start with MSC

The big service centers haven't adjudicated an I-130 since that time with very very very few exceptions.
