I am a March filer or my wife is, and had a question that I cant seem to get a straight answer on. I have held all my life a B1/B2 visitors visa, my wife and I were married back in 2000 and have resided abroad since. She is the USC and is wanting me to help her get settled in as she is moving ahead of me. She wants me to travel with her next month leave the kids here and get her set up over there for about a week. Then we would return and she could go back later to get the kids started in school. I have read so many conflicting stories on

1. Whether you can do this

2. Is it likely they will let me in if I have proof showing I will go back

3. Will it affect the I130 petition

4. Some things say it will only affect I130 if you get denied

So many varying answers and I don't want to do anything to in any way slow the process down. Any advice anyone

Another question RE sponsorship

We live in and have lived in the Bahamas since our marriage here in 2000. My wife does not have domicile in the US will this be a problem.

Also can a person use assets only to sponsor, my wife and I own a home in the Bahamas which once we relocate will not be our primary residence and it is valued at well above three times the poverty guidelines. Can this property be used as an only asset for her to sponsor me. One more catch is that the house is only in my name because I owned it before we were married and in the Bahamas to transfer or add someone to a deed or title you have to pay a 10% stamp tax to the government. I could even have my attorney prepare a letter to that affect so they don't think anything is shady about it. Thoughts? because if not we will need to start looking for a co sponsor. Her mom could but she lives in Bahamas too and does not have domicile in the US anymore. She still holds bank accounts and stocks and so on but no residence. Sorry for all the questions but I keep getting conflicting answers from USCIS and the Embassy here.

When assets are used, the assets must equal 5 times the difference between the annual income and the

needed 125% of the poverty level, this is because the affidavit is in effect for 5 years. For instance, if you
needed $15,500 income and had an annual income of $13,500, you would need an extra $2,000 of assets for 5
years, or a total of $10,000 in assets in addition to your income. In general, if you are deficient on yearly income
for sponsorship and your assets are somewhat borderline, do not take chances--have a co-sponsor. If you do not
have a job or a steady income from other sources (such as retirement income), you will likely have to get a
co-sponsor for your spouse, even if your assets are adequate. The USCIS looks VERY CLOSELY at current income
and not just the assets.

Thank you! And yes, we were both living abroad when we filed, so it's possible that helped speed things up.

Although my husband started a new job in the US and moved there early May, and we notified USCIS of his new US address, even though we knew it might result in a longer wait (we figured it was best to be truthful). But it looks like it all worked out in the end.
