Got another email today. Before opening it I foolishly had hope it was an approval notice. But no, now it says I'll be transferred to my "local office". Before it stated "another office".

I am confused since I applied from abroad... About two weeks ago I attempted to change my address to a NC address, but never got an update that it went through. And the Tier 2 told me the zip code from my Costa Rican address was for NYC. I DO NOT want to be transferred to NYC. Gotta call USCIS today when I get home from work.

I doubt it will go to local office. Just wait and you will receive 3rd email (so far lots of ppl have received 3 emails) that they have transferred it to difference service center. Good Luck!

3 emails? Is the first the one notifying you that it got transferred? And the other 2, what are they? Just curious, so I know what to possibly expect

I have seen people reporting that their first email said it was transferred to different office then to local office and then finally to different service center.

What a clusterf***. Can we all agree the biggest oxymoron of all time is: "efficient government"?

I'm still going to call today to confirm what my address is. If it goes to a local office I want it going to NC, not NYC!!!

You can try calling but you know how awesome the customer service is. Only way you will know for sure is once you get your hard copy.

Went for an infopass appointment today (Newark field office). Told me my file was "touched" on 10/16/2013. I had called on 10/18, Tier 2 told me the same thing, I called again on 10/28, they said no such information existed but officer at the field office today said it was indeed "touched" on 10/16.

PD of March 20 - no transfer or NOA2 yet. I did an address change at the beginning of the month and got notification when they updated that. It somehow makes me slightly better that they havent lost it...? Sad when that is the most positive thing I can come up with regarding this whole process dry.png

Before this I had no personal experience with Visa/Immigration process - I had a vague understanding and felt as though there needed to be reform. Now I KNOW there needs to be a drastic change - it is just appalling how families are kept apart! Its so unfortunate to make the process so insanely frustrating for people who want to do things the lawful way. It gives me much more compassion or understanding to people who have resorted to other ways. Comparatively my situation is so easy in regards to what so many people are having to deal with and I am grateful for that. But I really can't imagine the strength and patience it takes to be apart from your children, or to be apart from your spouse and not be able to visit.

The hardest part is just now knowing when its gonna go through and that all of our lives are on hold while we wait for USCIS to allow us to move forward. So even though getting files transferred to different offices may or may not speed this up, at least it feels like * something * is being done. Meh - something is better than nothing.

Hello Fellow March 20ther! In the same boat here. I've been contacting everyone I possibly can to let them know that this is a horrible problem, and also try and get my file looked at. Something seriously needs to be done to fix this. The USCIS should have plans in place to avoid this kind of issue.
