DS 260 for people who filed DS-230 before 9/1/13

Our case was completed on 9/11, but the day before that I spoke to a supervisor regarding having to fill out a DS 260 if your case was still at the NVC, but you filed your DS-230 before September 1. I was told if you receive a checklist for anything after September 1st you will have to fill out the DS-260 even if your DS-230 was already approved. Our case was still at the NVC because they overlooked one of the documents we included with our application and check listed us. We were fortunate that after we requested a supervisor review they realized they had made an error. It did delay our case 1 month though. We were told that if the review did not find the document they requested we would have to do DS-260 and wait up to 30 business days to get it reviewed by the NVC along with submitting the check listed document. Also, we were told that even if you get your interview the individual embassies may request DS-260 even if your DS-230 was already approved and will send you home on your interview day without your visa until you do it since all interviews are now after the September 1st cut off date.

So what to make of this? The NVC will request you do a DS-260 if you are legitimately check listed after September 1st for anything even if your DS-230 was approved and submitted before that date. This can add another 30 days to your time at the NVC. If you submitted DS-230 before September 1st and get no checklists and get your interview date you are clear of the NVC, but at your interview the embassy may request that you do DS-260 for them. It is all up to that country's embassy regardless of the fact that the NVC accepted your DS-230.

It might be a good idea for everyone in this particular situation to fill out DS-260 no matter if they are check listed or not. Filling it out even if your DS-230 was already accepted won't delay your visa, but not having it done on the interview day and the embassy requests it might.

I wanted to add it might also be the case that if you were check listed for something before September 1st and that checklist is not reviewed and resolved before September 1st you will be asked to fill out DS-260 and wait up to 30 days to get it reviewed.

Same happened to me, the weird part is that i got checklisted as they received the DS-230 awaiting for Financial Evidence. But they requested the DS-260. So I actually told them to send me the Checklist to my e-mail, they told me to expect it tomorrow (09/11), so I went and completed the DS-230 the same day (09/10). Hope next time, if they plan on changing something for anyone already processing any form to advice of an upcoming change. Could save weeks or months. Oh well, it's not only me and hope everyone gets it done quick.

I wanted to add it might also be the case that if you were check listed for something before September 1st and that checklist is not reviewed and resolved before September 1st you will be asked to fill out DS-260 and wait up to 30 days to get it reviewed.
