Earlier Discussion On Notary Public Process - Darnell

Hello,

This question is for Darnell, if he is around and not out chasing Chinese Peking Ducks, Pigeons, Goose, Cows or other such Asian animals.

In an earlier post I asked you:

Any way to speed up the Notary Public beaurocratic hell of stupidity?

You said:

Sure ! Give yer lass 2000 rmb, and YOU NOT GO IN WITH HER.
Have her use the money to pay the special expedite fee (bribe) .

If they see you, they will want more monies and they will slow things down as well.
Make certain she not use a telephone and call you , speaking English, or that will put a 'go-slow' mode switch to the ON position, as well.

STAY AWAY!

My question is:

How many times do we need to go to the Notary Public office? Is it just once to have my 'Affidavit of Marriageability' translated to Mandarin? Or is there another time we need to go there?

And is the expedite fee still 2000 rmb, you think?

I want to do everything possible to prevent delays, as I have been waiting for her for 3 years already ranting33va.gif

And I will only be in China for 30 days, to marry her. If it doesn't happen this time, I will have to wait another year before I can afford to go to China again cray5ol.gif

this might actually be a different office, buddy.

See, the affadavit of marriage-ability thingie is initially issued in English

So you want it translated into Chinese. OPPOSITE direction, for most things needed in China.

So.. Which office, you ask ? Beats me. There's only 1 human that can tell you.

You two go together to the Marriage Registry Office. Then have her ask the clerk WHICH office they accept translations from. Then go to that office. SAME DAY SERVICE is not so bad , usually, compared to the other stuff I wrote about.

Then, once you have yer cert translated into CHINESE, go back to the marriage registry office and go forth.

----

The bribe I spoke of, early, is NOT for this translation. I've read of some Marriage Registry Offices NOT needing the translation into Chinese, so make certain yer first stop is to the Marriage Registry Office, inquiring about the translation into Chinese.

----

Go Get Em, and Good Luck !!!

I am gonna draw a Venn Diagram, and then staple it to yer forehead.

Or yer backside.

Or use it to pin yer elbows sideways...

-----------------

When needed, the bribes are for speed for HER civil documents. An affadavit of marriageability / single status on you, is who's civil document?

Hi Darnell,

Pin it to my backside; my head has too much metal inside already. And one more staple could just very well overwhelm the system.

Okay so you mean the ‘chinese marriage book’; that is what I get translated into English and where I need to bribe the bastards?

SayingTooMuch -

It's her civil docs that must be translated. remember? the cool bits - only need photocopies or scans for filing the I-130.

and

the police clearance is not obtained prior to I-130 filing - it's just not needed until the casefile is at NVC.

Hi Darnell,

Okay, thanks. So one document that she bribes the bastards for is the ‘chinese marriage book’ (while I am hiding under a Chinese taxi two blocks away)...

And the other document(s) that she must bribe the bastards for is...?

ya know, she may not have to bribe anybody, if'n you don't show up at the office.

yer making a trip into China for marriage - here's what I suggest you do:

1. go to the marriage registry office, together, with your affadavit of marriage-ability. Ask the clerks there if they want it translated. If yes, ask them which office they accept translations from. Then go to that office (together) and get the affadavit translated.

2. when yer ready, file the paperwork at the marriage registry office. You will be issued a red marriage book, your wife will be issued a red marriage book.

3. have her red marriage book translated, making a white book. have a birth certificate made also, from her hukuo book, and get a notarial translation made also. you don't go for this trip. only her. remind her to pay for 2 day service or same day service. whilst the two of you are waiting on this translation, have some fun in her hukuo city.

4. scan the 2 white books, the notarial translations of her birth certificate and her marriage book. Email it to yourself whilst in China.

and that's it, for your next trip into China.

Hi Darnell,

Okay, thanks. I will not show up at the office. Or I will show up at the office, but disguised as Jackie Chan, so as to blend in unnoticed...

So if I understand correctly...

* We will receive two red Marriage Books, one for me and one for her? * After we make a Birth Certificate from her Hukuo book, we get it translated (and I once again hide under a taxi two blocks away disguised as a Parrot)?

* After that I can come out from hiding and resume to bribe the rest of the people in China to ensure that my stay is a pleasant one?

Please let me know if I got it right now, or if I need more staples and reminder notes.

Thanks Darnell,

document count and place for the china trip.

1. your certificate of marriage-ability / affadavit of single status - translated from english to chinese

2. her marriage book - from chinese to english

3. her birth certificate - from chinese to english

tempus fugit. doc intake at NVC

4. her police certificate - from chinese to english .

so, for 1 - you can decide to be there or no.

for 2,3,4 - suggest you be gone.

for 2 and 3 - bribes useful for same day or next day service

for 1 - expedite fee might be do-able but usually is next day for normal speed

bribes are optional. bribes usually necessary if the gweilo is present.

expedite fee is optional, for same day or next day.

ok man. hope that is clear?

Hi Darnell,

Thanks so much my friend... now I got it.

Except for one thing, who is the gweilo? Is that Jackie Chan's nephew?

And how much will it cost me to bribe everyone in China anyway, or should I just focus on bribing all the people in each city I will be traveling to, to keep my budget more manageable, if it will not offend anyone in China?
