Hi,

I have submitted a notarial birth certificate to the consulate a few days ago along with packet 3. I just noticed that on the birth certificate they listed a resident id card number for me.

I asked my dad about this, and he told me that apparently every Chinese citizen is assigned a resident id number at birth. So that number is on my family's hukou under my name, and the notary office used hukou to issue my birth certificate. The thing is I do not currently have a valid resident id card, so there is nothing on my forms that indicate that I have this resident id number. I'm a bit worried that the consulate might notice this and ask me where this id number come from?

Did anyone here also get a birth certificate with a resident id number on it instead of a passport number? and did that cause you any problems at the interview? Thanks

you interviewing in New Zealand? Unsure what to tell you.

However, Vice-Consuls at Guangzhou know this document, so there, it's ok. China ID is active there.

Since the hukuo is the controlling document, I say yer fine, whether or not you actually have further ID with that number, anywhere.
