We filed our AOS application on September 1, had our biometrics appointment about 2.5 weeks later and have not heard anything since. We have not had any RFE's and our case hasn't been touched since the biometrics appointment. We realize that we are still very much within the processing timeline (Charlotte is running at more than 6 months now) but are somewhat concerned about the lack of touches, since it's been almost 3 months since the last one. Weren't we also supposed to be notified when Chicago transferred the package to our local Charlotte District Office?

Please let us know if you have any thoughts.

My understanding is that there is no notification when your case is transferred to your district office. It might be time to file for an Infopass appointment!

Conditions Removed! Ten-year green card received 6/24/2009. No more USCIS for a very long time.

Well, if there is no notification, would Infopass even accomplish anything? Wouldn't they just tell me that we're still very much within their processing timeline?

There is no notification of transfer of papers to your local office..... you say you filed on Sept 1st.... so its been 98 days upto today.... it way to early to be worried about nothing happening... you said yourself that your office is showing a 6 months processing time so sit back relax and you never know you might hear something soon...

Thanks. At what point would you start worrying about the lack of touches and do something about it? Although Charlotte's processing times are running right around 6-7 months, I am assuming that it wouldn't be wise to wait that long without a touch. When would you start making noise?

All a touch tells you is that someone has moved your file from one desk or self to another.... it does not indicate they have done anything with your case....

If you have not heard anything by the processing date listed on the USCIS website I would make an infopass appointment to find out what is going on....

I realize that. I also realize that although some files do get worked on without a scan, as a general matter, the lack of touches means that USCIS is not doing any work on the file (the FBI may still be running a name check without any touches).

So your recommendation would be to disregard the lack of touches now or in the future and to only contact USCIS if I haven't been contacted 7 months after my initial application?

Believe it or not.......3 months is not typical for a GC interview or approval. Contact the USCIS once the processing time for your DO has been and gone as per USCIS instructions! Heaven forbid somebody should have to wait for something!

AOS

05/26/05: Sent I-485/I-130 & I-765 to Chicago lockbox.

06/20/05: All 3 NOA's rec'vd! TG!

08/02/05: Biometrics , New Orleans. Pretty uneventful.

08/09/05: EAD Approved!

07/12/06: ......still.........waiting.........

09/26/06: Case Status says interview has been canceled............What interview????

10/23/06: Interview finally scheduled for 12/14/06.

12/14/06: AOS approval pending renewal of Biometrics....Waiting on appt. for ASC!

Will this ever end????

01/17/07: Biometrics scheduled.

I received a touch at around a time that would make sense if it were related to being transferred to the DO, but I don't know that for sure. Take a look at my timeline for an example of how you can go for months without touches, and that doesn't mean anything bad.

Yes you have it in one.... 98 days is no time to wait.... there are some on here who have been waiting years... but if you have not heard anything by the date for your office then that would be the correct time to find out why its taking so long.... my case has not been touched since Biometrics in June 2005 and I was approved in Nov 2005... so I for one can say that no touches means nothing...

I see where you had an almost 2 month gap between touches but it was still quite a bit shorter than what I've experienced so far. Even if I don't really have anything to worry about now, at what point do you think it'd be reasonable to start making some noise? I realize that there is no hard and fast rule or a definitive answer to my question, but I am asking for people's experiences and gut reactions.

Although I understand what you and Niagaenola are saying, I don't think that I'd be comfortable going the entire 7 months (that's about how long Charlotte seems to take to approve AOS petitions) without a touch.

Our AOS is presumably pending in Atlanta (we were also not notified of a transfer) and, as you can tell from the signature line, we also haven't had a touch in quite some time. Atlanta seems to be better than Charlotte but at 6 month, is one of the slowest offices as well. According to that timeline, our interview should be some time in February, so my plan is to initiate a status inquiry into our case around the middle of January.

This is anything but a scientific method on my part so, of course, YMMV.
