London People- Anyone else in my shoes?

Hi everyone--

I wanted to share a bit of my problem to see if there are other people that this is happening to..

So, on August 13th, we sent back packet 3 to the embassy, had the medical on the 14th, and then sent DS-2001 on the 15th. This week marks four weeks without hardly a peep from anyone.

Finally, on August 29th, our status was updated on the ceac website. I called DoS, and they informed me that the embassy has received the medical results, and all of packet 3, minus DS-2001.

So, another week passes and we had a new status update for September 5th. I called DoS again to see what it was about, and the lady I spoke with said all necessary papers had been received and now we were to wait for an interview letter. She even advised that I call early in the next week to see if an interview had been scheduled.

So, that brings us to Tuesday, September 10th. I called inquiring about an interview, as the first woman had suggested, and the man I talked to said the last update on my case was August 29th, not September 5th, and the embassy is still waiting on the DS-2001. I told him about the lady I had spoken with before, and he basically said she was wrong, etc., etc.

Today I wanted to call again since I received conflicting information, just to clarify some things. The man I spoke with today said the same as the man I spoke with on Tuesday.. There was no update for September 5th, and the embassy needs DS-2001....

Why can I see the update being from September 5th, when they only see August 29th???

Has anyone else had this happen to them? I am starting to get really frustrated and upset about this whole process and just want to know of others with any experience in this area so far.

If anyone has any comments, they would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

That's rough! Sorry this is happening!

I would suggest one (or both) of two things:

1) Contact the Embassy directly and tell them the situation. They may be better able to direct you what to do/who to email.

2) Resend the DS2001-since it was just a readiness letter, I can't see any reason that a second one (should the first one turn up) would cause any trouble. And at least you'll have done what DOS said (no matter how wrong they may be).

Good luck! I hope everything gets sorted soon!

Aw I'm sorry for this hassle!

I would suggest resending the readiness letter after contacting the embassy, as well.

We didn't get our interview date until 5 weeks after everything was received by the embassy, so it was also a wait there. And we had to wait a month after that for the interview itself!

I am the USC/petitioner.

Our K-1 Journey
12/19/2012 - Mailed I-129F via USPS Express
12/21/2012 - I-129F arrives in Lewisville, TX according to USPS tracking (delayed because it's the USPS)
12/21/2012 - NOA1 date of receipt
12/26/2012 - NOA1 received via text/email
12/27/2012 - Checked cashed by USCIS
12/31/2012 - Alien Number changed (NOA1 hardcopy in post, but was away for 2 weeks prior)

05/16/2013 - NOA2 received via text/email

05/20/2013 - NOA2 hardcopy received in post

05/28/2013 - NVC receives packet and assigns London case number

07/15/2013 - Sent all paperwork/medical complete

08/23/2013 - Receive Interview Date

09/19/2013 - Interview

I don't know what the hell is going on with the embassy right now .I've seen so many people have problems in some shape or form .it would be a good idea to send the form again with a cover letter explaining why.as you know I'm now in my 5th week since sending my forms and still being told my forms haven't been logged ,so I'm really glad I took peoples advice on here to re send them as I told u before the embassy email to me was completely useless.

It upsets me to see so many people having such a hard time at this stage!!.I thought this was supposed to be the easy part

Thank you all for the advice.

I did find the contact form, which I did not know existed for K-1 applicants, so I will wait out their reply, and then I'll most likely have to do the $16 phone call..

I would like to think the second and third DoS people I talked to are just misinformed, but I am never that lucky!!

If I get nothing from the email, I think I will have Jake resend the DS-2001.

Jola, have you found that resending the forms has helped at all up to this point?

Just my opinion, but why wait 5 days hoping for a response from the embassy. Send another DS-2001 ASAP.

Does the $16 phone call still work? Nobody has mentioned trying it.

Agreed! Sending a new DS-2001 won't hurt anything and will either give them what they say they are missing (perhaps due to it being misplaced on their end) and/or will cause them to potentially take a look at your file, realize they have everything, and schedule an interview while they're in your file. It's such a quick and easy form...it would be worth the few minutes just to know you've resent.

No the phone line is no longer open for London. Basically, we have no way of contacting the visa unit and speaking to a human being... So, we are stuck with email...

Thanks for that, I had no idea it was no longer available! I am assuming that means that getting a 'code' is also obsolete and the only way to talk to them is through that contact form. Is that right?

I think you are right. I'm just afraid that by sending a new DS-2001, or file will be kicked to the end of the line!

I understand that.. You really think I should? I just never wanted to come across as annoying or anything on their end. I am giving them the benefit of the doubt, I suppose!

If you think it's a good idea to resend it, then I will!

Should anything special go on the cover letter?

I would re-send exactly as before, but add a line to the cover letter that says something to the effect of: "I am resending the DS-2001 form under advisement of DOS since it appears that the first one is not on record in their system."

That way they won't be confused if they realize it's your second one, but I don't think you need to go into too much detail about it.

Well, I tried calling the visa unit several times and nothing. So yes, the only way is through the contact form... But they've been busy at the moment apparently, so haven't been answering within 5 working days.

I am in your shoes, I sent the packet 3 forms on August 15th, they were signed for the next day. Since then, I had my medical. According to DoS records, my medical has been logged but not my forms, not any of them. I don't know what to do either, so I sent in an email and I am waiting for a response...

According to DoS sending a duplicate of the forms might delay my application further...

Both of you--

They do say to allow four weeks for your forms to be registered/opened/recorded (whatever you want to call it.)

Ejett, Did you give a wedding date in your cover letter? What date?

As far as your cover letter if you send again...What Sarah said. And state that you completed the medical exam on [date] , have all your documents collected, and are fully ready to attend an interview.

Deb, you medical results have barely been there a week, so an interview letter could take a few more weeks.

Yes, the medical results have barely been in but the forms were sent in almost 4 weeks ago. I emailed them on Monday and see what their response is. What drives me nuts is that people who had their medical after and sent their forms after me are all logged up and waiting to get an interview assigned!
