thank you s much this is such a big help . btw my pd is 7/6/2012 my noa2 9/25/13.also i passed the citizen interview and i;m waiting for my oath ceremony this month October i hope after that the process will speed up thunks again and good luck to you and everybody .

Congratz!!!

This is only the beginning. It usually takes 2-4 weeks for your case to be received and processed in NVC. After that NVC will assign you a case number. The first three letters of the number will be your embassy code. After that. 7-10 days, they will send you an invoice of $88 for the affidavit of support form I-864 (Check to see if you are eligible to fill out the EZ edition which is the simple one). Read the instructions and have it ready. Once you get the invoice, use the case and invoice number and access the ceac website. Pay the fee and print out the coversheet. Next step is to send in your documents. Payments usually gets accepted in 3 days. After that depending on your PD date, they will send you another fee which is the IV fee of ~240. Do the same as AOS, pay and gather all of the docs and send int the physcial documents and translations. You also need to fill out DS-260 form (which is online and available on the ceac website).

After this it is usually 20-30 days to review all of the submitted documents. If no issue is observed by NVC, you will get your case complete.

To give you an estimate, my I-130 submission was Jan 2012. USCIS accepted my case in June 2013. Got my fees in July and sent in all of the docs in first week of August. I got my case complete on Sept .6th. I have not heard anything back for Nov in terms of interviews. Crossing my fingers for Nov. otherwise I have to wait for Dec.

Good luck

Some people here tell me that I need to chill out but I am a bit worried of this Gov. shutdown. Government is already inefficient in doing its work. Just top that with a shutdown. I hope this dont affect us. Keeping the fingers crossed. wink.png

I dont think shutdown will affect case processing as thee are self financing.

Once you become a citizen, your category changes. You basically skip the wait list. As of now, NVC will only starts the process of documentation gathering if they feel your PD is close to be current. With citizens they start the process right away as there is no PD for citizens. Good luck. I suggest calling NVC and letting them know as soon as you turn a citizen

What exactly do you mean KiwiPouPou?

I'm F3 and my PD is 07/30/2003 (current 01/22/2003) I'll submit my DS-260 tonight and if everything is right my case will close in a few days(I hope), may I receive I/L before my PD become current?

Your Visa category is F. Looking at the Visa Bulletin, you can see that there are limits for each category and there are PDs established.

Visa Category IR do not have limits. For example spouse of a citizen can start the process of AOS and IV packages as soon as NVC receives the case. This is not true for an LPR. NVC will only send in the AOS and IV fees only if they feel the category of the applicant is getting current. Hence if an LPR PD is 3 years behind, they wont start working on his/her case unless they know it will be current in less than 6 months.

Your category has annual limit. Based on your comment, your case has started in NVC. The PD comes into play in this scenario:

1) NVC notifies you of the interview date. If PD is current you get your Visa (assuming you are approved at the interview)

2) If PD is not current, you wont receive a Visa until your PD is current.

This does not apply to IR category. Their PD is always current and there are no annual limits for them.

But these days looking at the current PDs on the Visa bulletin, it seems to me that both citizens and LPRs would be processed the same b/c the vast majority of all of us have PDs that are way before the one on the Visa bulletin.
