There are a bunch of different 1099 forms. These are used to report income other than your regular salary. This is for any interest income, profits from stocks, dividends, etc. Your bank would send it to you and to the IRS if you had any of this income.

What did you send with your I-864 to begin with?

You are required to send a complete copy of your most recent tax return (that is all forms, schedules, attachments, W-2s and.or 1099s) or an IRS tax return transcript. Get the tax transcript. They are free > http://www.irs.gov/Individuals/Order-a-Transcript

You need to send a complete tax return. What is complete differs from person to person, but may include W2s, 1099s, and schedules, in addition to the 1040.

If you do not have 1099s then it is okay. That piece is not strictly required. What is strictly required is a complete tax return. If you have W2s then you need the W2s (and maybe more things).

If you don't know what your personal complete tax return looks like, then you can order tax transcripts, which have all of the information that one would find on a complete tax return.

The transcript is enough and it takes about 10 days to receive it. And be sure and ask for 3 years worth and send them in.

You need the Total Income amount from the last 3 years for the form, but only a copy of the most recent year is required to be sent with the I-864.

7. Item Number 14.
Federal Income Tax Information.
You must provide either an IRS transcript or a photocopy from your own records of your Federal individual income
tax return for the most recent tax year. If you believe additional returns may help you to establish your ability to
maintain sufficient income, you may submit transcripts or photocopies of your Federal individual income tax returns

for the three most recent years

My suggestion is if you provide the numbers for three years provide the documentation. smile.png

You just proved my point. It says only the most recent year is required. If you believe additional years can help prove your stable, ongoing income, then you MAY submit for the last 3 years. You have to provide the Total Income from them, but you do not have to send in all 3. Since the self-employed use their tax returns to prove income, then it may be helpful for them to send all 3 years worth so they can see all the info on their schedules.
