Not a debatable topic for the K-1 at USEM, they use 5X. Think I shared a link to that info with you some time back in another discussion.

If your income is over 125% of the poverty guidelines, you won't need it. But if less than, you have to take the difference of: 125% poverty level and your income. Let's say you make $2000 per year less than P.L. Now you must be able to prove cashable assets of 5 times that difference, or $10,000 in my example. So your $517 cash basis will come out of the 10 grand. Maybe I confused the issue, but I was trying to make the point of it only being 1/3 or 1/5 of its value because of the rule for assets.

It's not like the value of $517 increases your income by $517. It decreases your gap by $517, if that makes more sense.

Yup. It's wrong, but it's what they seem to be doing. They are spoda be using 100% of the poverty level for income (as confirmed in an email I have from them), but they seem to measure against 125% whenever they please. If they want to align with the AOS process, it should be 3X for a fiance/spouse, not 5X as it is for other family members.

Frustrating, but what can we do? If I get a spare few hours in Manila this month, I want to attempt to get in to speak to a supervisor. Though I'd be willing to bet they won't even let me in the doors.

No, they choose to follow whatever "rules" they choose to on any given day. As proven by the recent debacles with co-sponsors. It's frustrating, and I'm not even doing a K-1. Hay naku!!
