How to request to expedite your EAD based on a job offer

I have a question on this, I thought you weren't legally allowed to even look for work until you got your EAD?

You can look for work and receive job offers, but you cannot actually sign a contract and begin working until you have an EAD or green card.

Just a final update on this.

I received my EAD card in the mail this morning. It was mailed last Monday and only made it as far as Knoxville, TN by the end of that day. It then didn't move at all, despite it being due for delivery on Wednesday. The USPS site says that you can't start querying the delivery for 5 days (priority mail is no longer guaranteed 2 day delivery).

However, I called on Friday. I found a really useful website which tells you how to call USPS and speak to a 'human' (on the normal USPS phone line you just go round and round the messages). This is the website - http://gethuman.com and here is the link for USPS - http://gethuman.com/phone-number/USPS-US-Postal-Service/ It definitely worked (the name of the website makes me think that it is something that Darnell would set up!).

So. Now able to work. Yeah!

Hi Anna, I am in a similar situation and USCIS accepted my expedite request . I have my company offer letter. can you please give some guidance on what to include in the cover letter (if needed)? Should the cover letter be on a company letter head as well?

Just to update this, my EAD card was mailed today - so just a week after I faxed through my job offer letter.

HI!  Thanks for the post - very useful.  I've just got an RFIE for my AOS and have found out that my EAD process will now start back at zero.   I'm so mad about this and have posted about this in the November 2016 Filers forum...anyway, anger aside, I just wanted to clarify that the process of expediting an EAD is in fact initiated by simply phoning USCIS as opposed to completing a form, paying a fee etc etc?  If this is the case the I plan to do this as soon as they have my response to the AOS RFIE.  Thanks!

Hello everyone,

i filed my AOS for the second time. First time we got denied due to incomplete RFE

My second AOS was received Jan 4,2018

Biometrics schedule for February 6,2018

i received a job offer January 30

I requested to expedite my EAD January 30

(I know it might do nothing until my biometrics are in).

i used severe financial loss to an individual as criteria. Besides my job offer, what else can I use as supporting evidence of financial loss? Would it have been better if I claimed severe financial loss to the individual and company?
