LAKE MARY, Fla. (AP) Police in central Florida have been focusing on a broken iPad in their investigation of a domestic dispute between George Zimmerman and his estranged wife this week.

Without video from the iPad or some other piece of independent evidence, legal experts said it will be hard to build a case because Shellie Zimmerman changed her story about her husband threatening her with a gun and decided not to press charges.

"I think it's severely limited if they can't get anything from an eyewitness or video," said Randy McClean, a former prosecutor who now practices criminal defense and family law in central Florida.

Police said Tuesday they were confident they would be able to get video from Shellie Zimmerman's broken iPad, and the evidence will help them determine if charges should be filed.

Florida law allows police officers to arrest someone for domestic violence without the consent of the victim.

At this point it sounds like they actually are looking for evidence to charge her.

really? sounds to me like they want to see what's on the ipad to determine if they should press charges against gz without 'the victim's consent"

she said she saw gz touching his stomach and she assumed he was holding his gun. i think it's safe to say most people would assume gz is cocked, loaded and ready to fire off.

She said he was threatening to shoot them---Lied

not quite what she's admitted, or what's been determined.

but you already had your mind made up about her the second you heard she filed for divorce. for all you know, gz did threaten her and there was a physical altercation between gz and her dad. the cops don't even know that yet, that's why they're checking the ipad.

there's a couple of you dudes out there, who think any woman in the midst of a divorce is just trying to drain her ex as much as possible. imo, gz fits the friggin bill top to bottom for your typical manipulative hothead.

Wrong again NB. There is nothing in any news story to support what you have written.

GZ's lawyer Mark O'mara says that GZ did have his gun.

The question of the gun became confused later when police told reporters there was no gun involved, but George Zimmerman's attorney told CNN's Anderson Cooper 360 that he believed his client had a firearm on him.

"He acted appropriately. He never took the weapon out," said Mark O'Mara, who is also a CNN legal analyst. O'Mara said he never saw the gun.

O’MARA: He acted appropriately. He never took the weapon out. The only thing he really did, which is what he told the police, was on the outside of his shirt, he made sure the gun wasn’t moving anywhere and didn’t do anything because Mr. Dean [Zimmerman's father-in-law] was sort of coming at him, that can sort of be seen in the video.

COOPER: So he had the gun actually on his person, not like in the glove box of his car?

O’MARA: That’s correct

She said he brandished a weapon

You said the same

Did he or not

No, I never said he brandished a weapon.

All I ever said was "I told you so" and you took that as some kind of code to mean that I hate GZ and wish him ill will. When in fact all it meant was that I told you GZ cannot help but get into trouble and keep himself in the spotlight. I've said it many times here, feel free to look it up. I've also stated that I don't believe things are going to end well for GZ, that appears closer and closer everyday.

So to recap, NB is wrong again.

How is he so terrible at staying out of the news?

Casey Anthony was the most hated woman in America for awhile and nobody heard from her in like a year.

GZ didn't make it a freaking month.

Because he's a moron and will continue to generate threads for decades.

Zimmerman iPad

Published September 11, 2013
Associated Press

LAKE MARY, Fla. – A police spokesman says that law enforcement analysts are having difficulty extracting video from an iPad used by the wife of George Zimmerman, which remains key in determining whether either will face charges after a domestic dispute.

Lake Mary police spokesman Zach Hudson said at a news conference Wednesday that an iPad used by Shellie Zimmerman to record an argument with her estranged husband is in "bad shape." He says it could be several weeks or months before its video is analyzed because investigators don't currently have the necessary tools to extract it.

Hudson says without an examination of the footage, he doesn't expect there to be an imminent charges against either person.

A police report on the incident is expected to be released this afternoon.
