Joel and I are talking about adopting a family for Christmas. I usually give money at school, when there is a family of one of our students who is in need. I remember being on the receiving end of someone's goodwill, when I became a single mom a few years ago. I want to pay it forward. Our church is also taking donations of gifts, toys, and clothing for our Angel Tree...a tree for children of incarcerated parents, so their children will have christmas from their dad or mom. We also did Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child, shoeboxes filled with goodies and money. Several were sent to places such as Pakistan and Afghanistan and some to countries in Africa. Doesn't seem like much to us, but I can just imagine the look on those kids' faces. :)

We give monthly to the ASPCA for medical supplies and food for homeless animals. I have been doing so via direct debit each month for the last 10 years.

A lot of time, with animal groups, animals themselves, etc. and various other stuff for other groups over the years. The main thing I give consistently (at least twice or three times a year) is clothes. I'm a bit of a clothes horse, but every few months I get remorseful for my consumerist ways and donate the stuff I'm not wearing.
