I called to schedule John's medical, as that's the last thing we need to finish before his interview. I was told by the Office Manager to wait until we have all documents, then schedule his interview, and then his medical. That if we get his medical done now, it could expire prior to his departure to the U.S. Just an FYI.

Really? That must be new! I heard the medical was valid for 6 months in South Africa.

Doesn't it matter more when is interview is for the medical as oppose to when he leaves for the USA? Or am I getting confused?

She said that the wait for the police clearances and birth certificate might be long enough, in addition to getting his interview that 6 months might pass. She said they had 2 doctors there on site and they can get people in very quickly. My concern was if the consulate scheduled his interview in a week or 2 would he be able to get to the Medical in time.
