hi there,

i had already made a translation of my french police certificate (issued on August 2006) and authenticated it by the french embassy last week in preparation for my interview this coming Monday.

last month, i've requested for the latest one and it only arrived today(December 08). the contents are all the same only that the date and the reference number were different. will it be okay if i'd submit the old one with its translation together with the latest one (which has not been translated) and the envelope that shows the date it was sent during my interview? Co'z i won't have time to translate it anymore? it takes 2 weeks to do the translation.

all suggestions will be appreciated.

I believe Police certificates are good for 6 months or 1 year, so the August one should still be acceptable for your interview this month.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

Does your consulate provide guidance on the dates for the PC? For example, my consulate indicates that PC are good for up to 1 year for previous places of residence but the current place of residence should be "of a recent time". I am not sure exactly what that means and is obviously subject to interpretation. Your idea may be the only course of action you have......

YMMV

If the old translation shows a different reference number on it, I'd go the extra mile and get the new one translated too. It might look fishy having a 'translation' that does not match the document being translated, or that has a date on it that preceeds the actual document you will use. I'd go the extra mile and get the new one translated.

As I understand it, anyone who is bi-lingual in French and English could translate it for you, simply by attesting that they are competant to do it and signing it in the proper manner as described. That should not take two weeks.

Well I guess I could be wrong about the above, depending on the consulate. Hopefully someone else will tell you what the Philippines requires.
