I'm still stoked about getting my NOA2 today, but something occured to me. My fiance' is here with me in America right now, his return ticket is for January 7th, 2007. Does he have to go home right away or can he stay? I searched the forums but can't find a related question. Anyone know? [Man, I hope he can stay for Christmas & New Year but I suppose if it would endanger the rest of the process, we could take the momentary disappointment] Any help appreciated :) Thanks loads! You'll probably be ok. You still have to get everything to NVC and that seems to take 1-4 weeks, and then it has to go from NVC to the consulate.

TheZilla,

What date was written in his I-94 (I-94W?)? That's the date that he can stay until.

If your question was does he have to hurry home because you got the NOA2, the answer is no. Like the other person said, it will take time to process things and get an interview date. The main concern would be getting home to complete the paperwork and schedule the medical in time for the interivew. If you look at the timelines for your country, you can estimate when the interview will be and then make the best decision. I would think with the holiday you will be fine. Congrats on the approval.

...And dont forget, has to get the police report too. Your fiance MAY be able to get the medical done in the US, but I'm not sure about that, (might be worth checking into).

For the police report... Scotland Yard take around 40 days to process it and send it out anyway, so he can print out the form from his local police force's website, fill it in and send it off from the US (although he does need to send some form of ID with his address on it - a bank statement or utility bill is ok... maybe he can get someone at home to send off the form for him, even?)... even if he does that now, he'll probably receive his police certificate in the post a few days after he gets back. So that bit shouldn't be too much of a worry.

Def. get started on the UK police cert - takes almost exactly 40 days!

And NOA2 - interview in London is AROUND 8-12 weeks currently, with the holidays perhaps more.
