IRS transcripts or tax returns for joint sponsor?

Hi!

We would like to send our I-485 and I-130 as soon as possible (I will be out of status from my F1 status by the end of October), and we are using a joint sponsor: a friend of ours who lives in a different state. She has everything's ready: birth certificate, letter from employer, pay stubs from past 6 months, and tax returns for the past 3 years. Is that enough or do we need to include IRS transcripts too? It takes 2 weeks to receive them so that would delay our application three more weeks ( as she would have to send them to us).

I just want to make sure.

Another question: I translated my birth certificate and wrote the certified translation letter, but would it be a problem if its me? Should I get it notarized? I read here that it is ok if the immigrant translates it themselves.

A sponsor needs either the tax return transcript or the tax return and all accompanying forms (one or the other). Usually, the transcript is recommended because you don't need to include a ton of other forms. However, if you don't want to wait for the transcript, then the tax return is okay. Make sure to include the W2, and all schedules and forms sent witn the tax return.

P.S. only one year of tax returns is required. Three years is optional.

Either is fine. Make sure the tax return is complete, though.
