To get through AP in less than 3 months would be unusual.

Begs the question why on average AP for DV cases is quicker?

I don't know if it's quicker on average, but there is some evidence on other forums that they take account of the 30 Sept expiry date. They do warn however that if you're still in AP after 30 Sept you lose out. In any case the official usual time for resolving AP is 60 days (see link below); it's likely that the people moaning on forums are the smaller percentage that are not, but because they are obviously more vocal it might give the impression that longer is normal.

Whilst I am sure that is the case, Pakistan seems to be a situation of its own.

Probably not quite "on its own", but certainly it would be among the high security risk countries, so yes probably longer than usual.

I guess Yemen and Afghanistan could be similar, but as far as those countries where a lot of people want to move to the US are concerned, Pakistan seems to max out on AP.
