Hello,

I currently work for a French company which is about to expand its activity in the USA. To have a clearer idea of the market and to finance the estblishment of the company, we decided to rent booths on several christmas markets on the east cost. The booths reservation is already done as it is possible to do it as a foreign company. My question is: I will be in charge of one of these booths and a co-worker should be responsible for another one. We are both French and would be working in the USA for a French company for about two months. Do we need a Visa and if so which one? I saw that H2B was the most likely to fit our situation except that we aren't an American company and therefore I don't know if I can recruit an american worker, moreover I would need to be there to supervise the operation and see how it goes myself (as I will run the company once settled). Can anyone help me? Thanks a lot

If you are coming to participate in a trade show you should be able to enter the us on a regular B1/B2 visa - tourism & business. You would require a work permit of any kind if you were coming to the US to be hired in the US.

Hello ,

First of all thanks for your quick answer. I asked around several services and no one seems to have the same point of view on the matter. Some told me to get a B1 visa, others told me that the ESTA was enough...

VWP allows the same as B.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”
