I will be traveling to the Philippines in 14 days and plan to stay for over the 21 days . I looked online and found the form to send to D.C. , but that requires to send your original passport . I do not want to run the risk of the loss of the passport with my trip so close . Is it easy to do this at the airport in Manila ? What would I need to bring with me ?

You can apply in the philippines for the extension of your visa, its in intramuros....bureau of immigration....just apply directly u don.t need to have a fixer to do it for you.it is safe to come inside and you apply for, and it is much cheaper, my step dad did that 2 years ago he only paid 3 thou pesos, he got the one month extension.I.m telling you, fixers is all around the immigration, they will ripped u off.goodluck

Tourist visit 30 days now. You want a longer stay you can do that right at the airport as you clear customs, just tell them what your plans are.

Rather then post this since you replied Hank . We are going the CR-1 route . Can i send the packet from the Philippines or is best to send from the United States ?

If you send it UPS or such no issue but for sure not by mail... I don't trust PhilPost

When I came in Feb. I was staying for 3 months. I had to explain that I was visiting girlfriend, her family and sight seeing -- and I was taking my time. Of course, smiling A LOT! She said "sneak on through". I also told her I know about extending visa and planned on it during my stay. She tried to make it seem like it was a hard process, but its really not. Ive done 4 extensions now and Ive been here for 7 months. I direct filed our CR-1 and plan on staying til its done.

Good luck, dont worry and have fun.

If you stay longer than the 30 days and do not have the time to file a extension. Then you have to pay the fee at the immigration counter in the airport before you are allowed to fly out of the country. I stayed 29 days last year and I was not able to extend it, so I had to pay the 3000php fee.
