When I went to Jordan I stayed at my uncles house and he has one of those showers where 2 drops of water come out at a time. The water would freeze in the middle of your shower like many of you have experianced. But by far the worst part was when we ran out of water and we had to fill a bucket and pour it over ourselves. I used to get my hair done at the salon every few days too bcz of the lack of water. One day they even ran out of water at the salon and they used ICE COLD water from the fridge to wash my hair. Do you know what brain freeze feels like from the outside of your head?

Now, me, miss american girl did not take one decent shower when I was there. The funny part is my fiance has a totally american style bathroom and shower. It's huge and he had a motorized shower so the water pressure was great. On top of that he had an endless supply of water. I hope he appreciates all of my suffering :P

I think this thread is bump-worthy. It would be nice to hear some of the cute/funny stories from newer members! (F):star:

i'll agree to that.

here's two stories for you to giggle about.

both from first trip to brazil.

i'm unpacking in the hotel room and nessa sees the toothpaste i have. but it's all in german (i have a large supply of german toothpaste because i like it so much). she asked what it was, so me being me, i tell her it's "german ky jelly" she had this huge frown on her face :( and i told her in a few minutes that it really was just german toothpaste.

i had to brush my teeth almost non-stop for 3 days before she finally believed it was toothpaste. :help:

next up - we went to some restaurant to have shrimp. the shrimp comes out complete with shell, legs, head, tail etc. i grab one and start peeling away and i noticed one disappear. i look again and poof there goes one again - nessa's eating them just like they are! spew.gif

i told her in the stateswavingfinger.gif we won't be doing that......

Hmmm. Well most funny stories actually involve me. There are quite a few I can't tell because of various reasons.. but...

1. When we had first met, I offered to cook him dinner. I thought I would make a stirfry because it would be different. Everything was going well until he distracted me, and it ended up burnt. Next I accidentally dumped almost a whole mini-bottle of soy sauce into it. The look on his face as he (politely) ate that thing... he still teases me about burning the dinner every time.

2. Those who are familiar with the coffee rituals of the small ammount of welcoming coffee... he took me to a relative's house where his uncle had just died 2 weeks before. of course everyone is mourning, etc. I get given that cut of coffe, I drink it, shake it, and hand it back. No one says anything until he leans over and says "please don't shake the cup." Apparantly, that's soe sort of "may we drink together always for this occasion" so he informed me I was kind of wishing them all eternal mourning.

3. It cracks him up when i conjugate Arabic into English. His favorite was when I was getting ready and I keep hearing him say "yella!" and I finally yelled back "I'm yella-ing, just give me a minute!"

4. When we first started to get to know each other, I remember he brought me home.. and told me to please not fart. I was like what?! Because I was A) totally mystified at his request, I had never done so before and B) of course mortified that he would even bring it up. He went on to explain that he knew it was common American practice. I was like "says who?!?!" Apparantly, because one of the University professors from the US that he worked with did this ALl THE TIME (and I told my husband just look at the American faces when it happens! You'll see none of us know what to do! We're all embarassed!) that it was normal and accepted. I informed him otherwise.

5. Along the same lines, I had gotten used to the water in Irbid but then for our honeymoon he took us to Aqaba. Where I got sick. I had to prop a chair in front of the bathroom door to keep him out! OMG! He was always trying to bring me water or something.

6. 3 mornings ago he said "thank you for calling me in the morning" because I apparantly woke him up from his oversleeping. I heard "d*mn you" instead. After he finally cleared that up in about 13 hours, he has now banned me from calling in teh morning because he says 90% of our misunderstandings occur in the morning.

7. I had a similar incedent with the shower, water, and squeegee except it was cold, winter, and I ran to get out of the bathroom (and the puddle I thought could not be fought) and instead I slipped and totally landed, sprawled out, on the cold, puddled floor.

8. One time, he was praying so I decided to do the same. He came out of the room he had chosen, ran and jumped on me (I was just laying in bed.) He asked me what I was doing and I closed it and said praing. Took him forever to get over it. he was mortified.

9. This is the best one so far. When we were in teh crowded supermarket, I chose the time to make the best mistake ever. I saw a box of cous cous, and in my American accent asked him-- (with everyone standing around)-- why is it called "cous cous" and whay not just "cous"? His hand went over my mouth like a flash and we left immediately. he was laughing so hard in teh car it took him forever to explain what I had just said down the aisle at him.

None of my posts have ever been helpful. Be forewarned.

Hahahaha

That reminds me of the scene in "Splash" when Daryll Hannah starts chomping on lobsters...shell and all.

I thought this was cute:

My husband and I were at the grocery store, and we saw that pepsi products were on sale. We started selecting several cases but he wanted sprite. I told him that the sprite isn't on sale. He had the most puzzled look on his face and asked me "then why is it here in the store?". OMG I about died laughing....

'Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming 'WOO HOO, What a Ride'

:lol::lol: LOL omg so funny.:lol:

I have another one. My fiance took me out and we decided to have lunch. Well we completly forgot that my aunt was making dinner so when he took me back and we came inside the table was set and they were waiting for us. We had just finished eating and we were so full, but we didn't want to tell them that we had already eaten so we sat down.

Now here is the twist, I'm not a big eater but anytime I ate around my fiance and his family he would constantly throw food in my plate and so would his parents which you cant refuse. I tried explaining to him many times that I didn't want to eat but it never worked...payback time.

We sit down to eat, he and I both put very little in our plate. My aunt notices his plate is kinda empty and tells him to take more and he politely says no. At that point her and I walked into the kitchen to get some drinks and I told her that he really LOVES the food but is embarressed to take more and maybe she should just put it in his plate. So we come out and she LOADS his plate and he is looking at me in disbelief and I'm just cracking up. After about ten minutes he finally manages to escape and he is soooooooo FULL. He runs out to the patio only to find my uncle bbq-ing. My uncle hands him a skewer of mean and basically makes him swear to eat it. I almost died laughing when I saw how is escape plan backfired.

These aren't really funny, but at this moment I can't think of any really funny stories. Maybe later.

Ok so my husband had a few outside dogs when he was a kid. He used to run and play with them all the time. But now he refuses to touch my dad's dog anytime we go to his house. So one day(before we got married) he came over to pick me up for dinner. He comes in and sits on the sofa and up jumps my dog and plops down right next to him. SO I went and got my camera because it was a once in a life time chane. As soon as I get back in the room my dog turns his head and gives Adil a huge licking straight in the face! I have never seen him scream so loud and run to the bathroom as fast as he did.

Another story about pets. We were cat sitting for my friend. So Adil comes home and there's this huge fat furry cat laying on the sofa. He aske me what it was. I told him that's Mo. He asked what's Mo? I picked up the cat and he started laughing because he thought it was a scarf or something, but not a cat. So over the weekend he and Mo became really good friends. Now he will have me call my friend just to see if we can go visit Mo. What I don't get is that it took 2 days for him to touch Mo, but it's taken almost 6 months til he touched Mimo with his bare hands. Now that he finally touched him, he's now officially part of our family. He asked the other day if we could hide Mimo in our lugage and bring him to Morocco with us. I wish we could because I don't know how he's going to get along at my dad's house with a huge German shephard lurking around the house.
