Gosh, I know the hubby and I have shared soo many hysterical moments but its like when the time comes to talk about...my memory is sooo distant...lol...

Jacque....how crazy about you and Mohammeds family, I would have been crying...I was scared to be in a room alone with sofyans family when i came here last year...its like such an awkward feeling when u dont know if they will understand you or not....by the way....was the fruit they gave you small, ripe green, and kinda fuzzy?? if so its called Loze...its like the starting part to and Almond....sofyans family kills for them....they dip them in salt...I think their soo nasty. but hey whats new right? nothing turns me on here...(well maybe one thing ;) lol) ANYWAYS......

hmm....a funny story about the hubster and I......Probably.....

(Ive shared this before so some of the old timers know it)

First night i came to Jordan, I was sweaty and nasty and wanted to shower....Sofyan offered to unpack my bags while i was showering....which i allowed because i knew it would allow him to explore my clothes and under garments...lol....so i finish up and i see sofyan sitting on the bed sooooooooo confused....I was like..ya know whats wrong and hes like....oh its nothing, just i saw something in your bag....and im not sure what it is, if its candy, a toy, etc....and I asked him to show it to me....and he pulled out a tampon.............hahahahahahaha Its a shame for arab women to use it before their married (or so i hear) and (up until now) they werent common here, so no one in his family had ever seen one....when i explained to him what it was....his face turned bright red......it was sooo funny!!!!!!

oh got another...

maybe 2 weeks into my first trip here in march 2005.....sofyan and i were just hanging out at our apartment watching TV......we didnt sleep much the whole time i was there so, our sleep schedules were sooo off....we found ourselves waking at 3 or 4am...HUNGRY!!! one night we both couldnt wait til the morning and we decided to cook something.....after maybe an hour of contemplating between pancakes, spaghetti, or a few other things....we both decided on spaghetti.....i was going to work in that small kitchen....browning meat, boiling noodles, making garlic bread.....and i could hear sofyan moaning about how hungry he was and how he couldnt wait to eat....well the time came to pour the spaghetti sauce over the meat...and carelessly...i opened it....dumped it all over the meat...and to my surprise.....there was MOLD.....all over the sauce....it was sooo nasty...I didnt know how to tell sofyan about it so i called him to the kitchen to see it....when he did....he didnt say one word...he just laughed hytserically cause he could see how sad i was.....we stayed up all the night laughing about the sauce.....while munching on our second choice...pancakes!

Sarah I can so relate to your adorable cat story. Abdel had only one cat experience before he met me that he remembers, and it wasn't good. A cat used to sneak into their kitchen at night and when the noise woke him up he would go to see what it was and get nearly scared to death by this cat that would freak out when it saw him.

Right about the time he and I met, 3 black cats showed up on my doorstep, which was kindof strange because I love black cats and had just had the one we had for 9 years put to sleep the summer before because he was almost in a diabetic coma.

I had told Abdel about the cats and taken him pictures of them and even had one under a chair in the house all night once because I carried it inside to show him on the webcam and it got loose and hid. I had sworn I'd never have another cat in the house and hadn't even named any of them, just fed them outside and petted them occassionally.

Within a month after Abdel got here, he let the tiniest female in the house one day. I don't think he quite knew what he was getting into as he discovered that once she was our pet, she wasn't allowed back outside, we spent tons of money on litterbox, toys and cat food, and eventually, vet bills. She went into heat the day before we left on our honeymoon, which was the week before Christmas, so she got to go 3 weeks before we could find a vet to fix her.

Now, she is Abdel's baby. About 2 or 3 weeks after she was fixed, I took in the big male. Abdel is so jealous of him it makes me laugh. When Sade, the female, comes in to wake us up in the morning to feed them, he says "Douzi (the male) sent her in." He accuses Douzi of stealing her food and chases him away when he comes to the table when we're eating, much rougher than he chases Sade away.

Kelly, I agree on the green almonds - gross! I tried one and that was enough for me.

As I sat here reading thru all ur funnies and laughing my head off .. I kept thinking..what has happened thats even remotely as funny as ur alls stories... Then, after reading the beginning of dollfaces story about the shower and all, I remembered...I DO have one

I get to Jordan.. Want to take a shower immediately.. find out that the shower is only 1foot by 1foot and the shower head is only 5feet off the floor. Interesting scenario since I'm around 5'7" and the last time i checked, I'm a little bit bigger than 1ft by 1ft. Begin showering.. looking around noticing details of the room.. sink, toilet (no flush handle.. figured out how to properly work it on day 3) I also wondered about the window squeegee on the floor (strange due to no windows in the bathroom) which i put outside the room in a cabinet since there was no use for it...etc...While noticing these things, I am desperately trying to NOT get the floor wet. With no shower curtain and teeny tiny shower space... this is not working very well...

Finally work up a half decent lather to hair and water turns ice cold.. Shivering, srubbing as fast as my arms can scrub, I finally finnish and thank god that the torture has ended. Step out of the shower and notice that the torture has by far not ended because I step into a floor of ice cold water! Look around and towel has fallen into the puddle, clothes fell off the toilet and were all soaked. Start pushing water to the ever-so-tiny drain on the floor.. finally get the floor dry and call for Noor to get me some dry clothes (no need for a towel since i air dried while cleaning the bathroom floor) .... everything is good although I'm a bit frustrated at that situation.... Later that night we were laughing about the situation and I mentioned that they need a device to make that job easier......Noor leaves the room and comes back with the window squeegee.. he says "habeebti".. I look at him.. he holds the squeegee like a broom and pushes it and says.."use it as this" I was mortified!!! That would explain why it was in the bathroom to begin with.... I'm such a dork!!! we still laugh about the squeegee incident to this day.. sometimes he even calls me mrs squeegee...

I made a comment to my husband about how I loved crabs, shrimp and shellfish....

His reply....

I don’t eat sea bugs!

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

Great stories everyone!!

OMG! That is so funny!

Last night we had Brussels Sprouts and Abdel loved them. I think I had cooked them before, but this time I did the Green Giant ones in the bag with butter, that you just throw in the microwave. He was just raving over them so I asked him if they had them in Morocco. He said, "Yes, but just the big ones." then he held up his hands to show the size, and I realized he meant cabbages.

You know I have given Brussel Sprouts at least 5 chances and I always hated them! Liz, I will be bold one more time and buy the green giant ones.

I just have to say that I love the Green Giant vegetables - brussel sprouts, corn, beans, peas all of the ones that you just microwave that have the butter or cheese. So fast, so easy and sooo good. Youssef refuses Brussel sprouts everytime I want to make them. I think he thinks they are cabbages too!

A little help for those who can't stand the bitter nasty taste of brussels sprouts. Put a buttload of velveeta cheese and a bit of salt over them, let them simmer in a crock pot for a while and mmm mmm good. that is the only way i can eat them

You know, I never really liked brussels sprouts (& I used to be a vegetarian -ate almost any veggie that didn't try to eat me first) until I had some fresh out of a friend's garden, but only the really small ones, like no bigger than a pecan or walnut, steamed and served w/ butter. All others I had after that, well, they just weren't the same. I still don't care much for them, and can only eat the really tiny ones....

I still need to share a story, but just realized the time!!! HOLY SMOKES!!! I've got to get ready for work!
