Angel's story was hilarious, I just hope my man does not do the same thing since he is also from Jordan.

After a week in Jordan, I was so sick of eating arabic food that I insisted we go somewhere else. I found a Beninhana's in Amman and got so happy. He had never tried it or for that matter even Japanese food. But he went along with it for me anyway. Everytime the waitress brought something to the table, he would ask me what it was. Now I can speak arabic, but I don't know the arabic words for tofu, soybeans, seaweed, etc. WHen she brought us the miso soup, it had some seaweed in it. I kept trying to explain what it was, but he didn't get it.

About a week later we were lounging on the beach in Aqaba, and some seaweed washed up on to the shore. I told him, hey honey, see that? Thats seawead. I think i heard every arabic cuss word in the world come out of his mouth in about 30 secs

BTW - Dollface, did you say you are in Zarka????

LOL JordanianPrincess .. that's hillarious. OK here's mine :

When I was in Lebanon we stayed in the city where he lives (we have our kitab iktab (legal marriage) but have not yet had the duchla (connsumated the marriage)). Anways we decided to go to the village for a week. While we were up there we could be together alone during the day time, but at night had to go sleep at a relatives house. Well one night in the evening we went to "our house" to go change then we would go back to my grandpas house to sleep. My Grandpas house is above ours .. not connected .. but on a higher part of the mountain. Anyways we go in to change into our PJ's and I ask him what's in that high closet. He said he wasn't sure. So he gets a ladder and climbs up the closet to see whats in there. In the meantime I had gone to the bathroom. All I hear is "Massouna DO NOT come in here" over and over. Of course curiosity killed the cat. So I go in there ... I see him smacking something really hard with a broom in the closet. I get closer to him as he's yelling at me to get out. When I got right under him a RAT comes flying at me .... I swear I screamed so loud my parents in the US probably heard me. I was just running and screaming til I go on top of the bed. He started chasing the rat around and cussing saying it was my fault for scaring the rat. He told me not come in, and I did anyway. Well that's not the funny part. After the whole dillema was solved (rat is dead). We go up to my granpas house. We walk in and my aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents are all staring at us. We have no idea why. Well then my uncle pulls Ali to the side and asked him if he took my virginity !!! I swear Ali was laughing sooo hard !!! He called me and told me "tell him what happend". So we told all of them the rat story and I'm still not sure if they believed our story or not. All they knew was that , 1. We are in love 2. We were in a house at night alone 3. It took us a long time to come back and 4. I was leaving the next week. Ali and I laugh about it till this day.

Sorry so long !!! :star:

Reunited and it feels so good ....

Hi Dollface,

Yes, My fiance is also from Zarka :D I dont' meet too many people that live in that area and I did spend alot of time there last Sept when I was in Jordan. American food in Jordan is yucky! We spent 120 JDs at Benihana for just 2 people!!!! IT was totally not worth it. Ream Shawerma on the 2nd circle is the best, I discovered it on my last day in Jordan :ranting: and I wish I had some now.

I have a funny story. It was my first trip to Jordan and we were to marry the next day. We stayed at Mohammed's family home and they graciously gave me the parents room to sleep in. It was a beautiful warm night in Jordan and the breeze was blowing thru the lace curtains. Mohammed was off sleeping in another part of the house. His father was sitting outside my door with a big stick. lol,,so I was safe.

The next morning I woke and heard voices in the other room, everyone was up drinking coffee and smoking, so I put on my make-up and fix my hair and go out there to join everyone, totally thinking I had heard Mohammed's voice in the mix. Well, I was wrong! He was not there! Just his brothers and sisters and his parents. lol, I was like ,,'Good morning". No one spoke english. As I looked nervously around, there was no Mohammed. So his sister gives me this little green fruit thing and I don't know what in the world to do with it. Do I peel it and eat the inside? Do I bite into it? I'm looking around the room waiting to see what they were gonna do and they were waiting for me to eat first. It was a genuine fruit stand-0ff. One of his sisters saw my confusion and showed me what to do.

It's not our funniest story, we don't really have one yet, but we have another catch phrase. As many of you know, in January, right after our honeymoon, our water heater went out. This kicked off a huge renovation that I had been planning for years. Abdel has been wonderful and done so much of the work himself. One of the tasks involved chiseling concrete to move water lines that were buried in the foundation. Abdel worked tirelessly, but the task was really difficult. He had to wear wrist supports after a while because the sledgehammer I got him was too big. We found the right sized one right before he finished the job.

Now, whenever I apologize for some job he has to do that is particularly messy or something, he just smiles and says, "It isn't chiseling."

Yesterday we were putting up 8" square columns and beams, which were very heavy and took 3 men and me to lift into place. I teased Abdel that if he got his travel permit first he would want to go to Morocco to wait for his work permit so I couldn't kill him with all the work. My brother looked at him and said "take me with you!"

Abderrafie and I laugh so much, but one of the funnier things for me was explaining to him that the root beer he found in my fridge was NOT beer, was NOT alcoholic and had nothing to do with alcohol. Even after my explanation, he seemed skeptical and could not grasp why it would have beer in the name if what I was saying was true.

we've had a lot of funny incidents surrounding language, but the best was last summer. we went to a concert with some friends in a city about an hour from our home, and when it was over we decided to swing through the mcdonalds drive through for a snack. i was sitting there gabbing with my girlfriend in the back seat while we were waiting in the line and Adnan was reading the menu. he turned to us with a really puzzled look and said, "WHAT is an apple diaper??" we all asked him what on earth he was talking about and he pointed to the menu item apple DIPPERS (the apples with caramel dip) but he read DIPPER as DIAPER. I swear we laughed our asses off the whole way home. We still laugh about apple diapers whenever we hit a drive through.

The other really cute thing, not a specific incident but kind of a series of incidents, involves pets. Most of you ladies know that pets as we in the US know them are really not common at all in NA/ME. Adnan never had an animal in his life, his mom is really against the dirt etc of having an indoor pet. I am quite an animal lover and always have a variety of pets so I was curious at the beginning as to how it would go. Well, its been good. a bit more than a year into it, Adnan and my female cat have such a love affair going that it rivals romeo and juliet. they are inseparable. this cat that never had any interest in human food will eat ANYTHING if it comes from him. sometimes he tests her just to see what she will eat. last week she had some salad from his plate and I caught her sneaking refried beans from him. she also likes to fall asleep with her head shoved all the way inside his stinky sweaty work shoes. I am SURE his mother would scream if she could see, but usually its just so dang cute. He just left a few days ago to spend a few weeks in france with his family and this cat is flat out MOPING every day; I've found her sleeping on his clothes. and since he's been gone and I talk to him online he makes me go find her and hold her up to the webcam so he can talk to her.
