Does the DS-261 make the DS-3032 obsolete? -and other questions

Hi all,

I am still waiting for my NOA2, but I want to be as quick as possible in getting through the NVC stage when it comes, so I am consulting the Visajourney Guide page and looking at the Shortcuts pages as well.

I have read about emailing in a DS-3032 for Choice of Agent, which might speed things up a bit. But now I am reading there is a new procedure involving DS-260 and DS-261 online forms. Does the DS-261 online form make the DS-3032 obsolete?

Also, what is the DS-260? I believe it is a new procedure, as I do not see it in the Guides section.

So, if I understand correctly, the basic steps at the NVC stage are:

-Get the NVC Case # ASAP, maybe phone them up?

-Mail back the completed I-864 as soon as I get the Case #. (Can I work on the I-864 with my current information, or will that be too much in the past to be acceptable?)

-Fill out the DS-261 online as soon as I get the Case #

-Fill out the DS-260 online as soon as I get the Case # (or do I need to wait for the IV bill to be processed before doing the DS-260?)

-Pay bills as I receive them. (Can I pay bills online?) -AOS bill, IV bill

-do my medical exam at some point

THANKS!

It's all changed I was invoiced on Sep 3 yes the DS-3032 is obsolete was replaced with the online DS-261. I was doing just as you where doing you have to wait tell they invoice you.

  • You will get 3 emails then you can go online and fill out the DS-261.
  • After a few days of them accepting the DS-261 you will be invoiced for the AOS Affidavit of Support fee.
  • You setup online payment and wait for money to come out of your account and status shows paid.
  • Then you can send in your I-864 AOS forms and associated documents. (This is where i'm at)
  • And was told after acceptance they will invoice the IV fee's

Pretty much they have shut down any way to speed up the process good luck keep researching and updating your timeline they track a lot of data and look for trends and time frames also keeps your mind off of waiting good luck.

Ps Go Seahawks!!

With a Canadian beneficiary you need to be reading this:

http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/NVC_for_Montreal_Beneficiaries_%E2%80%93_Electronic_Processing_and_New_Online_Forms

really study it thoroughly.

I used Saylin's wiki and made it through the NVC and consulate without a hitch. Not a single checklist or problem to be found. Montreal has been using the DS-261 and DS-260 for quite some time. (3 or 4 years?)
