Arkansas police shoot dead 107-year-old man at home

Police in the southeast Arkansas city of Pine Bluff say a 107-year-old man is dead after police officers shot back at him during a standoff at a home.

Pine Bluff Lieutenant David Price told a local television station, KATV, that police officers called to the home on Saturday were told Monroe Isadore had pointed a weapon at two people there. Officers had the threatened pair leave the home and approached a bedroom. Police say Isadore shot through the door at officers but missed hitting them.

More officers were called, including a SWAT team that inserted a camera into the room and confirmed that Isadore had a handgun. Police said SWAT officers released gas into the room when negotiations didn't work. They said Isadore shot at officers who fired back, killing him.

Proof that the USA is a police state, killing innocent 107 yr olds in their own home. It's OUTRAGEOUS!

Government officials should be disarmed, I agree with you Penny. It has gone completely out of control. We are supposed to protect ourselves and this theory of calling someone else to bring a gun is not working out. The overzealous cops shoot innocent people all the time...and when someone like GZ is tried, you KNOW what you hear...."he is a wanna-be cop" People are just going to have to get over their fear and laziness and take responsibility for their own families. Having innocent people gunned down by "officials" is simply too high a price to pay for laziness and adication of responsibility by others.

Take their guns NOW, sell them at auction through licensed dealers to private citizens for personal protection

Police should be allowed to keep guns at home as any other citizen and even carry them concealed while off duty, but to carry them in official business is clearly a bad idea.

George Zimmerman killed in self defense. Has NOTHING whatsoever to do with the story above. I would have done the same thing ole GZ did, and it wouldn't matter the color of the attacker on the other end of my gun. Attack me, and I will protect myself. It's a right given by our constitution. And one not likely to be understood by people from other nations, I understand that. But it works for US.

OMG I was in Geneva earlier this week and went to an AWESOME gun shop full of real machine guns which regular people can buy. If you are a former reserve member you get them subsidized! Then we could disarm the police like in UK I had a nice long chat with the shop owner. The Swiss are armed to the teeth! 1 in 10 citizens has a machine gun, nearly every home has a firearm of one sort or another. There are more than 3000 shooting ranges on a country of 6 million the size of PA. Imagine 3000 shooting ranges in the LA area for example.

Yeah but we know what Penny really wants. I agree with her. Why do we need the government to have guns? We need regular people to have guns so we do not need to call the govcernment to bring them.

This man would still be alive if the police were disarmed. How many more must die?
