Hello,

Hopefully someone else has been in the same situation before and can help.

Here's the deal: We have received our NOA2 and are just waiting for the NVC to send our visa application to our embassy in Tokyo. I (the American fiance) was living in Japan with my fiance and not working. Now I am back in America and still not working until my foreign fiance can join me in America.

However, my foreign fiance also has no employment currently. Several of the forms he has to fill out prior to our interview ask him about his employer and employment info, though...

NOW, we DO have a financial sponsor(my parents) making plenty enough to support both of us.

The question:

If we both are unemployed, even though we have my parents as a financial sponsor, will this be cause for concern or even a chance they won't approve us? We will start work once he gets his visa and joins me in America. But currently we both have no employment to show on the forms we are to submit for the interview. Help?

Whether or not your fiance has a job has no bearing on a family based visa process. She won't have a job when she moves to the U.S. anyways. Focus on your proof of support.

I hope you don't mind me asking, but what did you use as Affidavit of Support if you don't have a job? Also, why do you have to wait for your fiance before getting a job?
