He can order a tax transcript from the IRS. It's free.

Agree - free and fast - should be delivered in 10 business days or less.

Is there a way to just view it online? I don't need a hard copy. I just need his annual gross income but we don't have any means to know the exact amount as he also doesn't have a hard copy. Even though it is free we were thinking of applying for AOS next week that's why we'd be ok if it was only viewed online. Is there such a way?

No - I am almost certain (but not positive) you cannot view online. Assuming you didn't use a service like TurboTax (which allows you to recover historical returns) you need to wait for the paper copy.

My husband used turbo tax for his 2012 that i am sure. With regards to 2011 it's just a probability that he did use it. Is turbo tax a way for us to view his 1040 online?

Yes, you can recover historical 1040s - all you need is the AGI to complete the 864. Not a bad idea however to simultaneously order the transcripts. They are not required for prior years but it's not a bad idea to have them on file just-in-case. It's free, so nothing to lose by obtaining them.

Thank you for the answer and advice. We'll also order a transcript after we tear down the place lookinf for the lost one. :P for for safety reason as there are important info in 1040. Thank you again :)
