10 Years Green Card Holder - Frequent Oversea Travel

Hello my extended family and Friends,

Since I got a green card, I have never been travelling overseas more than 1 months. I have a very decent job here in USA and recently I just bought a condo a MONTH ago. However, due to family emergency, I have to quit a job and go back overseas. My plan is to fly back and forth during this coming 2 years. I have no problem paying loan or airplane tickets to fly here every 2-3 months. Will I get in trouble doing that?

What are the things that I need to do in order to show that I have an intention to live in USA. And what are the things that I should prepare to prove my case so that they don't think that I abandon the green card. Is having a condo here will help to show my tie to USA?

How is the reentry permit work? My understanding about reentry permit is that it is more for someone who plan to be in overseas for extended period of time - less than 2 years. But I don't know if I should apply one because I will fly back and forth.

Any suggestions will be appreciated...!!!

Getting a reentry permit is the safest option. It's fine to travel to and from the US regularly while holding a reentry permit, and it removes any doubts about your intentions to reside in the US. Yes, having property in the US will also help to prove ties. Be sure to pay your tax returns regularly.

hmh33 & ama537621,

Thanks so much for the replies, here I thought reentry permit is only valid once you travel oversea and back, then you have to apply another one. Now I know that it can be used to travel multiple times....

I will apply soon, do you know how long it usually takes from the time an application submitted to granting of a reentry permit?

Thanks
