HI All,

We just received the interview letter on 6th Sep saying that we have an interview at 23rd Sep 2013 at Mumbai Consulate. We are not completely prepared yet and have lot of things to prepare for the interview. We are little confused with few things and need your opinions

1. Do we need to send packet 3 and 4 even after we received the interview letter?

2. If yes, then where do we send it and by which medium? I mean do we need to courier it or need to send by using India post only? (our interview is scheduled just after 2 weeks so we don't want any delays)

3. Can someone please explain this whole process as we are not too sure that we have to submit the photocopies along with the checklist or not?

Can someone please answer the above questions for us in detail as many people have gone through similar situation?

Thank you so much!

Hi,

It seems that sending Packet 3 & 4 to Mumbai consulate is no longer necessary. Just fill it out and take it with you to interview. This info. was gleaned by calling the desk help line. You can do the same to confirm. My fiance's visa is 23rd Sept as well in Mumbai. Best of Luck!! :)

Additionally if this will help: My fiance just finished her medical and already has both the police clearance and passport clearance certificates. Only medical and police clearance is necessary but we got passport clearance out of an abundance of caution. I would do these soon as police clearance can take 1 week and scheduling medical can be a hassle as well.

You did very good by taking the PCC from Passport office because that's what they really need for the PCC. We are trying very hard to get the PCC but we had no idea that we are going to be scheduled on 23rd which has left us with almost no time so we are praying. Thanks for all your information though! :)

Hey guys, I was wondering whether they send Packet 3 or 4 at all now. Do you just get a letter telling you your scheduled interview date?

Reviewing the Packet 4 on the Mumbai consulate website, it pretty much tells us, the applicants, to schedule the interviews. It even gives option to reschedule interview dates. Is that not up-to-date information?

Can you pay the K1 Visa fee via online, or it must be done at a bank?

When do you complete the DS-160 online? After the consulate reaches out to the beneficiary?

I'd really appreciate you help smile.png

From what I believe, the Indian consulates do not send out packets 3 and 4, rather the beneficiary just gets an email with a scheduled date and you take all the information with you the day of. If you have not yet done so, you will need to go onto the travel docs site and set up an account (this gives them your contact information, etc).

As far as I know, the fees are paid at the bank and you take the receipt to show you paid them but I am not sure if this is the only option or if you can still pay at the consulate.

I don't know if it matters when you complete the 160, just as long as it's complete before you go to your interview and you have the printout. My fiance happened to do his after he was already scheduled.

Good luck! Hope you are scheduled soon :)

Is this true for i-130 cases as well? I am still waiting for NVC number. My wife, the beneficiary in India, is in a process of collecting PCC, Birth Certificates, etc and then send it over to me so that I can send them to NVC, when asked, in order to make the process faster. However, if Packet 3 and 4 are not required for NVC anymore, then I might have ask her to keep these documents with her.
