N-400 Form: Confusion about signature (cursive, full name or abbreviated)

Hi folks!

I searched the forum and there wasn't a definitive answer so here goes:

Looks like the signature at the time of interview in front of the adjudicating officer should be in cursive and full name. Regarding the signature on Part 11 of N400, should they be the same (all cursive full name) or they should be what I have given earlier on previous immigration forms and use to sign my checks?

The book from "NOLO: Becoming a U.S. Citizen" says that the signature on both part 11 and part 14 should be all cursive and full name and should not be abbreviated.

What gives?

I signed in my regular signature (first and last name). I mentioned it to the officer I believe and do not recall that she made any mention of signing in any special way.

You should just ask your officer when s/he asks you to sign, "Regular signature?".

Thanks Vanessa! I am not that concerned about that the officcer may want at the interview. I haven't sent N400 application yet.

I am talking about the Part 11 where the applicant has to sign before sending the application.

I know the other part where applicant has to sign in the presence of the immigration officer at the interview and USCIS wants full name be written in cursive, no abbreviations or shot hand forms.

Huh... well I signed my "regular" signature on everything everywhere. i asked about the one in the presence of the officer and it was my regular signature (which is only my first and last name, no middle).

i've read a lot of replies to questions such as this and it seems like most people just do what they want/feel is right. Someone else said it made sense to be your "regular" signature because otherwise how would it match all your other stuff to prove it's you.

sign the way you sign usually. Some peoples signature don't even look like their names, so make sure you sign the way you do.

My signatures have hint of first and last name and you could make guess that it belongs to me. So I'm thinking I will use the same signatures as I used on for my EAD (Employment authorization and green card application). As far as the signature in front of the interviewer is concerned, I will ask him/her what she prefers.
Thanks for your response, all who share their opinions/experiences in this journey matter and for that I'm grateful.
