We got our interview date this week. It's Oct. 8, which is surprisingly early. The wife had heard on QQ of people getting mid-November dates, so we were prepared for more waiting. We're not done. We still have to decide what she'll bring to GZ and what she won't. But looking back, I'll offer this rule of thumb for anyone starting out or close behind: You never know. If you're trying to figure out how long it will take, you can look at other timelines, compare notes with others in the US and China and take an educated guess. But you'll never know until you know. We got through the USCIS quickly, hit a speed bump at the NVC, seemed to disappear into a time warp at the NVC and then ended up with an interview date six weeks earlier than our final estimates. We took the EP route, which seemed to make a difference in the end. But there's not as much documentation and it's easy to make little mistakes. I don't know whether our interview dates means anything for anyone else whose case is at the NVC now. You never know.

Good advice.

Sounds in a similar vein like the Yogi Berra saying, "It ain't over, 'til it's over."

Good luck at the interview. The weather may be more hospitable by that time.

Indeed. Well said.

Expect more delays in getting the passport back. Even if they say "congratulations you've passed" you're not out of the woods yet!

It took us 4 weeks to get her passport returned to her!
