Hello All,

Can someone clarify what type of visa a K1 visa is.

I am absolutly unsure which one it is.

I go here to track my visa, but I am unsure which one to pick.

It's a hybrid visa type in the sense that it's a non immigrant visa but processed at the immigrant section of the embassy since it leads to a potential immigration benefit.

Fiancé(e)

If you are an American citizen, you may bring your fiancé(e) to the United States to marry; and live here.

Nonimmigrant visa for fiancé(e) (K-1)- To travel to the United States for marriage. An I-129F fiancé(e) petition is required.

So when the National Visa Center receives the case it changes from IV to Non Immigrant Visa?

When I track it on https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx

I have to choose immigrant visa and then enter the MNL number.

Am I correct in doing so?

Even at NVC, as far as I know, it remains a petition and all the way until the passport is stamped with a K1 non immigrant visa by the immigrant section.

When I did a K1 I did not track it though CEAC so I am not sure of that scenario, sorry.

I'm sure others with more experience will chime in soon.

we are still waiting for our case number....we keep calling and also sent email to the NVC but no case number yet as the NVC told.

I called NVC on the phone. The customer service person was very freindly. He told me my MNL Number on the phone and then I asked when it was issued he said Sept 05; I then asked when it was received and he replied Sept 05.
