I am moving your post to the forum in which it belongs. You already made this post before, and it has replies so I am not sure why you made the same post again > http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/452897-4-days-after-our-marriage-feds-wont-let-k1-bride-apply-for-a-social-security-number/

This is about getting an SSN, not about the AOS process, so the posts belong in the Social Security Numbers forum.

~ Moved from AOS from Family Based Visas to Social Security Numbers- topic not about the AOS process but applying for an SSN ~

Jay-Kay, leave my post ALONE! Who do you think you are?

I am an organizer. Organizers move posts to their appropriate forums. That is what I have done. This one actually needs to be merged with your other one, since they are the same post.

*** Duplicate posts merged so that all answers to the query can appear in one place. ***

msamulski, Jay-Kay has explained the situation very accurately. She is a VJ Organizer, entrusted with moving threads to their proper location. The need to move this thread was clear, and her action was entirely appropriate. Had another Organizer or a Moderator seen it, he/she would have moved it, too.

You also have several duplicate threads that have been removed. They seem to have been posted at the same time, which could mean that the first attempt was slow to load and you hit the "post" button again. A lot of people do this, but it's OK to wait for the first try to post.

My wife came on K-1 visa and we tried to get a social for her. They did not give her one because the K-1 visa was expired for about a week. So when we applied for AOS we also applied for EAD. When we got the EAD like a month or two later we brought that to the Social Security office who then issued her social security number. But all of this did not matter with adding her to my health insurance plan from work. I called the health plan to add my wife and they asked for her social. I told them she was here legally here on a K-1 and waiting for greencard and Social. They still added her on my plan without having a social. They just said that when she gets her social to call them and add her. They said the social really didn't matter since I was the primary subscriber. Everything worked out fine and you should also not have any problems. I wouldn't waste your time going back down to the Social Security office until you get her EAD. Good Luck.

I guess it depends on the office and whether or not the agents are well-informed or not. I thought I won't be given mine after getting married on a K1 but I was given the number. if after trying they still won't, there's always after getting the EAD.

we still have 3 weeks before the I-94 expires, but our marriage ahead of SS number application has resulted in us being denied. My state government health insurance provider will NOT let me enroll my new wife and son into my health care until they get a social security number. Will the I-765 be granted more quickly than the green card? I have called Department of Homeland Security, and I have been to the Social Security center twice. Will the opportunity to apply for a social security number come more quickly than the entire A.O.S. process?

Thanks in advance for moving my post to a place where no one will see it.

Well once you apply for AOS the i765 takes no longer than 70 days which is nothing compare to the time of waiting for GC (which take several months). If your i94 is about to expire theres nothing you can do to get the SSN before AoS. I went through the same thing. Once I got my EAD thry gave me my ssn

Your other 2 posts on this same topic that were merged by a mod had about 11 or 12 different replies to you including myself. I do not see how moving it to the appropriate forum makes no one see it. If no one sees it, how did your post receive replies? Why do you keep posting the same thing? Are you wanting different answers? There are replies to other posts you made> http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/452897-4-days-after-our-marriage-feds-wont-let-k1-bride-apply-for-a-social-security-number/

A K-2 is not eligible for an SSN before getting an EAD or green card.

A K-1 is eligible to apply for a social security number - whether they marry or not - up to 14 days before their I-94 expires. If an employee of the SSA is telling you this then you should ask to speak to a supervisor, because they're incorrect.

See https://secure.ssa.gov/poms.nsf/0/7092db20e347e6348525754c00058a9b!OpenDocument&Click= for further proof (and perhaps print this out to take with you if you are receiving an unsatisfactory response).
