Hi,

Just to update everyone, and possibly give an idea to those who are under the Saint Paul, MN Field Office. (I'm from North Dakota.)

September 24, 2013 - Sent Application for AOS / EAD / AP (Front-loaded; Adjusting from a K1 Visa)

October 2, 2013 - NOA 1

December 4, 2013 - Received EAD / AP Combo Card

January 17, 2014 - Received the Potential Interview Waiver dated January 10th

May 1, 2014 - AOS Approved (Without Interview)

May 8, 2014 - Received 2-year Conditional Green Card in the Mail

My AOS approval took about 7 months from NOA 1 / About 4 months from the Potential Interview Waiver. :)

Yes they did. I got several email and SMS case updates. You can read it on my blog post found on http://www.mrspresson.com/2014/05/26/finally-got-green-card-485-adjustment-status-aos-approved/

On some cases though, they didn't receive any alerts, just the surprise of getting the Green Card in the Mail. :)

Good luck!

I've been thinking about this, and was wondering, does this effect us in anyway? I have the EAD / AP card, so can work and travel abroad, but is there anything else I can't do until the GC decision?

Thought about it too, but seems like the only thing is: If the GC still isn't approved by the time the EAD/AP expires (though I think most cases get approved before then), you'd have to pay to renew the EAD/AP. I could be wrong. Any takers?

As long as your I485 is pending you do not need to pay a fee to renew your EAD.

Another thing is if you get your drivers license while on EAD/AP it will only be valid as long as your EAD is valid.

For me not having a green card also means not being able to go to college because I would have to pay international student tuition, which we can't afford, obviously. I hate that there is nothing like EAD for people who need to go back to school that would allow schools to charge you as "in-state".

I know that timing is everything with USCIS, but I just have to say that it's a little irritating to see that someone who applied in early March of this year to my local office has already had their interview and been approved, while the rest of us who filed 6 months ago or more are still sitting here with nothing more than a letter saying we'll have to wait even longer. I know that it really is all about timing, backlog, etc., but it doesn't make it any less annoying.

For the most part, I think we all go into this process knowing it's going to take some time, so I'm not trying to be really negative. Just needed a place to say how I feel.

haha so glad you said it. I feel the exact same way, it's been irritating me for the last few months because it's obviously not fair, so I stopped looking at any posts on here except for this one. It drives me INSANE. my local office is processing November filers but I guess our file isn't even in that pile. I hope all of us who are still waiting will hear something SOON. very soon ;) keep your head up! :)

ohhh I didn't even realize you're also at the memphis office and living in TN :) hi!

Hi there! Thanks for being so positive! It won't be too long, I don't think, before we hear something. We should set up a "Memphis local USCIS office" support group haha ;-)

Someone from our group did! (October 2013 AOS Filers) username "Kumi and Drake" - http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/457973-october-2013-aos-filers/page-32#entry6785289

She got an interview waiver and a week later her status changed to Card Production (Got Approved).

There are several such people. I remember someone on here actually receiving the Potential Interview letter and their approval the same day (can't find their profile, sorry). But, every case is different - some people get lucky, some wait for a long time - so it is best to concentrate on one's own case.

Hey folks I'm in the same boat as well, AOS is stuck in the Memphis office. Mailed it in Dec, 2013 and got my interview waiver letter on March 25th. I Haven't heard anything since then.

Two weeks ago I called USCIS to request an expidite sighting the reason of me wanting to purchase a house and apply for an FHA mortgage. I received a refusal letter in the mail 4 days after making the request... the wife and I had to laugh because the only thing USCIS has done faster was to cash our checks.
