I nearly fell off my own chair reading this. Well done! Lets hope this officer follows through for you. How did you get past Tier 1?

I simply told them that before I scheduled an InfoPass appointment I needed to know where our case was. I told them it would be futile to go to any such appointment at my local field office if our file was at NBC or some other office. Since Tier 1 does not have access to that info, they kicked me upstairs. Realize this, I've talked with Tier 2 at least 5 times before this and most ranged from brick wall to flaming jerk...it'####### or miss...

BTW it is easy to get to Tier 2; just ask them a question they can't answer...

Hi vj's i hope you guys are doing well, I got a notice of potential interview waiver case say my case may not need to interview me to complete my case but also say about delay the delay will be approximately 6 months, have you guys received this letter (specially Dominicans) how long it took to get your green card? 07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

It's hard saying how long it will take, and hopefully it will not take as long as it says. We also received that letter and my wife is still waiting on her green card.

Thank you for your information. Your case has sent out to local field office or not? what is the meaning "referral number **************NYC, is currently not assigned for processing" ?

It is always hard to interprete USCIS'ese; it's like reading tea leaves. I can only interpret from what I was told yersterday by USCIS Tier 2.This was posted on the Next Step side of our My Case page:

This acknowledges the request made by Tier 2 to the NYC field office made during my call. Then today these three postings on the Case History side:

What is interesting is that our case unassigned result from our 1/9 SR is on the Next Steps side below the "If we reject your case..." message. Don't know what that means. Yesterdays message is gone on this side.

I can only go by what the Tier 2 agent told me yesterday. Messages on this page are posted chronologically last to first. I believe they mean that the message was assigned to a NYC field office "officer" (flunkie) to perform the request for our file from MO and that we will receive a letter from the NYC office soon. They are quick; their answer by mail from our December SR was in 3 days. What that letter will say and whether they follow through is a mystery. And as GiuseppeG's experience will tells us, getting to the NYC field office doesn't mean quick action. You can rot there just as long...Their "posted" Processing Time for that office as of November 30th was May 6th - over a month past our receipt date. An InfoPass appointment would be more realistic if we know it is there...My lawyer also knows the supervisor there and that may help as well...Maybe he'll finally earn his fee...At this point, I'll use anything to get this nightmare finished. Keep you all posted.

I just tried calling USCIS and asked to talk with Tier 2. The officer just transferred me and I got a call back in 30 mins.

However....I still don't have the answer. The officer was confused as well. She checked my status and then told me that my case should be assigned for an interview soon but It hasn't sent out to USCIS Boston yet, which is not normal.???? Looks like she saw something updated on Dec 21 but I don't know what it is. She let me hold the line and came back again with the answer that my case might not have to get interview and she is now sending the service request to National Benefit Center to answer my question. Now the service number is ending with MSC instead of BOS as 2 times before.

I don't expect anything at this time. Best case is getting the letter saying that "just wait"......... It's like coming back to the same loop :(

on status website it says

On August 1, 2014, we accepted the fingerprint fee for your Form I-485

On September 12, 2014, we approved your Form I-131

I've noticed quite a lot of people joining the waiver club over the past week. Wouldn't you think that USCIS would look at the backlog and try to clear that before sending more waiver letters out?

What is the wording on the site? Did the agent file an out of processing time request or something else? I had never heard of a general inquiry SR. Maybe that is just code for internal communication.

What's going on at Tier 2? They seem to be seeing things i a different light, though an n of 2 may not mean anything.

I don't see what it is as it's currently not assigned for processing. Tier 2 person filed the request for me, she said it's going to NBC office. The inquiry no. begins with WKD and End with MSC. She said that if I don't get any respond or approval by Feb 10, just call her back.

I just tried to open a service request online and got a pop up that said I have to wait 30 days from last service request. Do any of you know if tier 2 can override that?

Today I was told by Tier 1 to wait for 30 days but when talked to Tier 2, she could do that.
