one of the questions must be why is it taking such a long time to process K-1 adjustment cases? and why they don't have more number of employees handling such cases considering it is large number of applicants in this group. Not having GC is like being stuck at the middle of your life. They must give it serious concern to improve processing times because I can't think of any other reason other than limited number of employees processing our cases. budget might be another reason...... I'm not sure

I think we should ask them the following:

1. Why is there such a delay in processing the NPIW cases and how can they justify the huge time difference from our cases and "normal" AOS cases? For example, when I called to discuss my case last week, I was told they are processing AOS cases dated in July. I applied in March. How can they justify processing July cases when our March cases have yet to be touched?

2. How can we find out reliable information regarding our cases? When we call USCIS, we are given stock answers, we have no idea where our files even are, as people have reported many different answers here in this forum (local offices vs. NBC). Service requests are going unanswered or unassigned and we are feeling completely lost in the process with zero accountability from USCIS.

I just registered and submitted the following question to the "Tea with Director Rodriguez". It'll get swept under the carpet just like our I-485's:

Potential Interview Waiver cases for Adjustment of Status from K1/K3 visas are being subjected to interminable wait times beyond the processing dates posted for local field offices on the USCIS website. Many have been told by Tier 2 USCIS customer service or in responses to Service Requests for out of processing times that their cases are still at the National Benefits Center unassigned and since they only pre-screen and do not adjudicate I-485’s our cases are NOT out of processing times. While at the same time other K1/K3 AOS applicants (and other visa classes) filing at the same time get interviewed and rapid Green Cards 6+ months before us. This untenable situation puts our legal immigrant spouses in legal limbo. Many are being forced to renew medical exams that are over one year ago. We feel our cases have been forgotten. Why is this happening? How is this different from the appointment problems that have plagued the Veterans Administration in the past year? How can you help us?

This is an excellent questions and I hope they will take time to respond. It is difficult when even our senators and congressional representatives cannot get straight answers.

My concern is USCIS officer should hire some more officers to do PIWL letter case since there are so huge load to deal with few officer.

Since this agency works on the fees they charge us and they say their work load has risen, they should have lots of money to hire more...I agree...

I called USCIS on Friday to determine the location of our case so I could schedule an InfoPass. I was transferred to Tier 2 and "told" by the computer that I was in line for a call back in 50 minutes. 2-1/2 hours later I received a call at 6:30 pm saying the computer system was down, the woman took down our name for call back which might be today, but probably Tuesday. We got no call and stewed over the weekend. I hate three day Federal holidays. Surprise, surprise we got no call from USCIS, so at 4 pm yesterday I recalled and talked to Tier 2. I was loaded for bear...BUT...

I got a surprise, a helpful and friendly Tier 2 customer service agent...I was shocked speechless. He listened to the fact that I was upset that USCIS dropped the ball and did not call us back and that I wanted to know where our case was to determine whether it was worth the effort for an InfoPass...Well, I was not shocked to hear it was still in Misery...I let it out: asking why a case can sit 10 months and nearly 7 months after a NPIW letter. Why, if it is the stated goal of USCIS to process these cases in 4 months or within 6 months of a NPIW letter (which ever comes last), are we stuck in NBC. I asked him why a friend of ours who arrived after my wife and filed in mid-April was given an interview and a GC 6 MONTHS ago. Why? He told me that our case was very much out of processing time. Not shocking news, what is shocking is that he said it to us. He said that he would call the NYC USCIS field office and have them request our case for interview or simple processing. He put me on hold and came back and said that we should get a reponse in 2 weeks...

I nearly fell off my chair. I thanked him perfusely. He remained calm and professional the entire call...and he took action. Subsequently My Case posted this: As of January 20, 2015, your general inquiry, referral number **************NYC, is currently not assigned for processing. I'm not holding my breath, but maybe we got the ball rolling for our case...

I'm not sure if lightning will strike twice, but I think the rest of you with Jun 5 and Jun 27 NPIW letters should call as well. Use the InfoPass reason I gave. Understand this, he never mentioned our Service Request dated Jan. 9th that reported our case was unassigned; it never came up...

Thank you for your information. Your case has sent out to local field office or not? what is the meaning "referral number **************NYC, is currently not assigned for processing" ?
