I just want to get mine before my EAD/AP comes close to expiring (06/02/15), and my drivers license expires then...I'd rather get it renewed with my green card so it doesn't expire a year later if I have to renew it with a new EAD card.

Exactly...

What happens if I decide NOT to renew my EAD (it expires in May, and I am hoping I will have my green card by then!). I am sooo aggravated about their behavior that I am basically throwing a temper tantrum here! I work of a European Company and I could easily go work my the office over there while I wait. What is the scenario?

F-1 Visa: Academic years 2007/2010.

K-1 Visa: I-129F sent Aug 2013; Approved Jan 2014.

Green Card: AOS sent Feb 2014; Approved Jan 2015.

Removal of Conditions: I-751 sent Nov 2016; Approved Apr 2018.

US Citizenship: Application sent Nov 2017; Fingerprints Nov 2017; Civics/English exam March 2018; Oath May 2018.

What is the reply from your 1st service request?

For me, the first time they stated that my case was not at my USCIS field office. The second time which I just got yesterday was from my USCIS office as well, but they told me that my case is under pending consideration and cannot estimate the processing time frame.

I'm just wondering that is it possible that our cases were already transferred from NBC to USCIS field office to process? if not the USCIS field office might gave us the wrong answers.

I know, I'm aware of what the P stands for.

We are all here to help each other out. We are here to share our experiences in hopes that it will help other people embarking on this same journey. I know we all feel frustrated and inconvenienced with long wait times. We can kick and scream all we want, but the reality is that USCIS will take as much time as they see fit to adjucate not only our type of petition but all of the other types of petitions that they adjucate along with ours. Do I see this as unfair? I certainly do. Do I wish for a speedier process? Yes, by all means. I have seen people with lawyers, congressmen, and senators get the same responses as someone who doesn't. USCIS is its own boss and no one is going to tell them what they need to do. Not only that, but they don't have the sufficient workforce right now for the high demand that they face. They are hiring 1,000+ more employees just to deal with the President's executive action in February. It won't help any of us if we use this awesome website, that has helped us get here, by snapping at eachother. I have accepted, and I have helped my wife accept that we are going to have to wait just a tad bit longer for her to receive her green card and we are ok with that. I know that not everyone will agree with me, but we can all learn to agree to disagree and not snap at eachother. In our situation, being in a same sex relationship, we endured a long fight and continue to fight to be equal. I am grateful of where we are today, married and having our spouse with us in the United States. So what if we're going to have to wait a few more months and possibly still an interview, sure beats waiting for recognition for almost a decade of my life.

I think you may have misunderstood the intent of my comment. I was just agreeing with you, not snapping at you. Sorry if that was unclear! That was meant to read "I'm all too aware of what the P stands for"

I just received this response to last week's service request from the New York City field office:

Based on your inquiry, we have reviewed the status of your case and have found that it remains under active examination. An interview notice will be issued once an interview date and time becomes available. Your interview notice will be mailed to your current mailing address on record. Please follow any instructions on that notice.

Who even is supposed to know what that means? I received the 7/29 NPIW letter, but this is the second service request stating that I'll be scheduled for an interview. Meanwhile, the I-485 processing date for NYC as of 11/30 was "May 6, 2014".

What bothers me about your 2 service requests both stating that you will be interview is that it is taking so long to even schedule. We know a couple with a NOA date in mid April (well after ours) who got one of those "miracle" early interviews at the same field office. She got her request for interview in May, was interviewed the last week in June and had a GC in hand in mid July. So my question is why has it taken over a month to decide when to schedule an interview for you. When they want to they can move heaven and earth, and when they don't, they can drag their feet. I sorry to hear this...It stinks...The hindrance continues...

Well, I've just emailed my congressman's office to see if I can get some clearer info on this.

I totally agree with you that confirm where your case in now.

If it translated to the local field office, I would say it is a good thing for you.Since NJ filed office process timeframe is 5_25_2014. You will be noticed very soon. And you can call the local field office to ask!

They cull off cases early in the AOS process in NBC for transfer to local field offices for interview - generally for questionable cases (with regards to K1/K3 applicants). They get quick interviews and green cards. I guarantee this couple got an intervew...There are also other visa classes applying for AOS who seem to get interviewed at a higher percentage than ours...there must be a good reason; they're just not going to tell us...
