We filed 3/31/14 and received the letter 7/10/14. B's medical is over a year old now and I'm starting to brush up on my letter writing skills. I'm thinking of writing our state representatives this weekend as we'll be past the "wait 6 months" mark.

Any tips on what to include?

This is what I found from someone who apply from employment base. We can adjust the statement to our story.

Hope this helps!

Dear Congressman name

I have applied for employment based Adjustment of Status (Green Card) in mm/yyyy for my self and also for my wife at Texas Service center. We gave our 1st fingerprints at local (name of the office ) Immigration office on mm/dd/yyyy . After that we haven’t received any communication from Texas Service Center.

On mm/dd/yyyy , TSC trasnferred our file to local office in (name of the office ). Again we gave our 2nd fingerprints at (name of the office ) on mm/dd/yyyy.

Recently USCIS web site is showing that they are processing employment based I-485 applications as of July 15 2004. Many times I tried to inquire about our cases and there was no reply from them. All of my friends who applied after me got their approvals.

Its been more than 3 yrs when we applied our I-485 and no decision so far. This is making our life very unstable and restless. Also I don’t have any attorney representation. If you could help us in this regard our family would be very grateful to you. The only hope we have is your help.

I am attaching I-485 receipt notices of my wife and myself also I am writing all my details below.

Thanks and regards,

Thanks for that, It's looking like they're not making people do their medicals over again if they expire.. I mean it's not our fault they take so damn long so obviously we're all against the idea of having to pay and do another one

Login to your profile on the USCIS site, click on your case and if you scroll down a little it has updates. I assume you've setup an account on USCIS, if not its straight forward enough, just go to the page where you put in your number and you'll see "Sign up" at the top of the page

Well Im in England I finally received my EAD/AP card and have spent Christmas and my son's birthday with him. Whilst I have been away my husband told me I got the "dreaded waiver letter", dreaded as it is the slowest route. I've been looking a few posts on here, an awful lot to get through, so many people waiting! When I got my waiver letter I looked on the USCIS website, it still says fingerprints were received in August. No update about letter beng sent although I did sign up for alerts, none received.

So going to pick your brains Natonstan, I see that we might not have to go for a medical in some cases and your medical is due to expire or already has and mine is expiring as Otter's is Jan 15th, so you can't answer that question as it seems hazy.

However I see that we all get assigned a field office, how can I tell what field office is dealing with our cases? I log into USCIS and my case starts with MSC, not sure if that helps. Secondly, I read today from someone talking about something different that they seem to think that the 6 months starts from when you had your biometric's are taken, is this true. Finally, when can I put in for a service request? We filed around August the 13th. Thanks in advance, hope you had a great Christmas and I hope in the New Year we will all get our GC and finally feel we actually belong somewhere, rather than being stuck in the middle of nowhere with no sense of belonging right now. :)

Hi Shell, welcome to the NPIW club. You're going to be here for some time.

1. You can use the following link to establish which USCIS field office has jurisdiction over your address: https://egov.uscis.gov/crisgwi/go?action=offices.type&OfficeLocator.office_type=LOThis is probably the same office where you had your biometrics done if you haven't moved.

2. MSC stands for the Missouri Service Center which is now known as the National Benefits Center. All AOS applications go to the NBC initially and are therefore allocated an MSC receipt number.

3. The six month period begins from the date of the NPIW letter. The letter explicitly states this.

4. In terms of how your case is to be processed your local field office won't have any involvement unless yours is one of the few NPIW cases to be referred there for interview. Ignore the published local office processing times completely, they do not apply to your case. There are no published processing dates for NPIW cases.

What actually happens at the NBC for NPIW cases is a mystery. My understanding was that the NBC have a department that process NPIW cases. However, recent congressmen enquiries have suggested that the NBC is just a holding facility for NPIW cases and that all such cases are drip-fed to offices with spare capacity for processing. This drip-feed takes no account of local area responsibility e.g. a Portland Oregon case could be sent to Tampa Florida for processing if the Tampa office have less work at that time.

5. You can file a service request once the six months is up. A more informative way in which to proceed would be to go out into your garden and ask the nearest squirrel what's happening with your case. The squirrel will give you a more helpful and accurate answer than you will get from the USCIS mis-information line.

I hope you're enjoying your trip to the UK. Tally Ho! :-)

Thanks for the info! I haven't got the letter my husband read it to me over Skype as Im on holiday in England visiting my son!! I was nearly getting excited then thinking that I would only be waiting a couple more months and now I figure I have to talk to the squirrels in our garden as you said, I have grey ones, black ones and red ones to choose from. Ha ha ha very funny, you made me laugh even though I don't want to be in this special club for obvious reasons!! Ah well I guess I need to start watching the grass growing or the paint dry, it would be quicker, although we aren't thinking of decorating! Lol Thanks once again for clarifying things....

I've been watching this thread for a while went through the K1 process with Nantonstan and Otter. I have just decided to come off and on as not to depress myself. I was praying I wouldnt get the letter after reading about it, but I was one of the CHOSEN ones and now my file is in the abyss of the USCIS. It figures!

I am pretty hesitant about posting this here, as I don't want to upset anyone who has been waiting longer than me

But back in early December me and my husband moved house, so I filed the change of address with them and got a letter back saying they acknowledge it, etc. I kinda laughed to myself and put the letter away thinking whatever it's going to be like another 3 months wait anyways

I had actually given up checking my case status because it said the same thing since I applied "your fingerprint fee is received"

One day I was getting really ticked off so I decided to check my case status and lo and behold it said "your welcome notice has been mailed"

I was like, what on earth? Must be some kind of error, I was so used to waiting at this point that i thought it was just an error on there side and they had updated my case instead of someone else's

But no, I did indeed get a welcome notice which said I would receive me GC on March 1st

Thought nothing of it, thinking it was just something you got halfway between being a waiver case or something

Decided to check my case status the next day, and now it shows a USPS tracking number, checked that and it said it was out for delivery

They delivered it to my old house, despite me telling USPS and USCIS that my address had changed a month ago (so if you have/are going to change address, please keep this in mind)

So we drove to our old house, lo and behold there is a USPS priority mail envelope, and inside is a leaflet with some info and stuck to a letter inside also was my GC. I almost just about fainted in shock.

I am of course really happy! But I would have been a lot happier if you guys who had been waiting way longer than me, had gotten yours first. I really wish they would tell us why they seem to work on cases in random orders. The only thing I can think of was my case was laying collecting dust somewhere and when I changed my adfress they had to pull it out to update it and then just went ahead and approved it

Because honestly, our cases should all be easy approvals

Anywho I really hope I didn't upset anyone by posting this. It wasn't my intention to rub it on or brag, on the contrary I am quite upset that they are working on things in a weird order. I really wish those of you who had been waiting a long time could have gotten it yesterday instead of me. But I just wanted to update you guys about this and let you know.

Congratulations on your late Christmas present. What was you NPWI? It appears from your other dates that you are a very lucky couple and it also speaks to the arbitrary nature of our "friends" in the NPWI section of USCIS. Again congratulations and maybe there will be an avalanche pending...

I'm not sure of the exact date as I have the letter put away, but I beleive I got my NPWI back in early August!

And yeah I think we are going to see a ton of approvals come through since Christmas and New Years has passed ^^

Does your case history on USCIS website mention anything about your address change?

Hm is that something I have to be logged into my account to see? I haven't used the website much since they updated it. And they locked me out of my account and I can't get back in it x_x; sent them an email and they never unlocked it sadly
