Your impression is correct. NPWI cases are retained by NBC in Lee's Summit, MO until they are dispersed (drip, drip, drip) at the time of their choosing to a field office with the lowest work load (because they know right now that the vase majority of us will not be interviewed -

Good morning Nihernan. Are you saying that you think ALL NPIW cases are dealt with in this 'drip, drip, send out to local offices when they are not to busy' manner? I had presumed there was a Notice of Potential Interview Waiver Department at the National Benefits Center responsible for processing the bulk of our cases? I admit to presuming that only one person worked in that department but I presumed it actually existed!

Derwood, that is a good question. I was told permanent residence but they asked for a Resident Alien number. Is the number on our offical documents for AOS (the one beginning with "A" followed by many numbers) our resident alien number? Is this the number that will be on my wife's GC? Can anyone who's gotten a GC and still hangs around tell us whether the # on their GC is the same as the number issued during the AOS filing (and is displayed at the top of the NPWI Letter above your MSC receipt number).

The Alien Registration / Resident Number (A999-999-999) is the one that's on your NOA2, Visa, EAD Combo card & NPIW letter. I'm 99.99% sure it will be on your green card too (if it ever comes). The same number follows you around for life or until you get citizenship.

Urgh! If they are still using paper files can you imagine how high the cases must be stacked up! Let's hope they don't have a fire!

Derwood - thanks for the input on the Resident Alen #. I'm gonna go back to my bank an give that a try.

The fact that there is no limit on family based GC for minor children, spouses and parents, and that the NPWI process is so slooooooowwwwww seems to confirm your suspicion. It appears that they computer screen (and maybe cursory hand screen to see pictures and appropriate documentation), cull off the cases that raise red flags and interview them for quick GC. Those data make them look good; that's probably why they don't return satisfactory interviews to the same line we're in for fair dispersal of GC's. The rest get thrown in a dumpster for later; a lot later. There must be one very lonely worker in the dungeons of Lee's Hill, MO that passes out 2 or three cases whenever they bring him (or her) his (or her) weekly meal (maybe monthly). This guy must be averse to dust 'cuz there's lots of it in the NPWI cubby hole...

Question about this process... We got the waiver letter dated on November 12th, but what I really mean is our K2 got the letter. My husband has yet to actually receive a thing. He questioned whether that means HE will also be waived, or is it just that our K2 is only 10, and therefore doesn't need to be interviewed. Anyone on here with a K2, and if so, what has been your experience? I tried asking this in the regular AOS forum but only one person responded, and she never followed up about their process (AND didn't have a filled-in timeline... so annoying!!!). His USCIS update still sits at "fingerprint fee received" dated, August 15th. K2's is "case was received" on August 6th. (ALL our other NOA1's are dated August 6th.) For what it's worth, he will be doing a call sometime this week or next since we're outside of our local office's processing times. Any insight would be GREATLY appreciated! TIA!
