Notice of Potential Interview Waiver Case

Drip, drip...dribble, dribble. In a little over 1 month we've seen approvals for NPWI letters with dates of 6/5 and one from 6/10 and there are still Apr and May letter holders still waiting...at this rate they'll be addressing our GC to our heirs, though they'll only do that after the renewal of our 25th medical exam...

I didn't think about an AP being invalid after a GC is approved ...I guess FedEx to Uzbekistan might be an option if we travel in late Jan as our immigration attorney advised we could...Another wrinkle...but that could be wishful thinking...

Then today I applied for a car loan. I tried to get a joint loan to further assist my wife's credit...They could not process her without a Resident Alien number...Same answer when I tried to get her a Roth IRA before the new year...screwed again...

Yes, this process is infuriating and is greatly affecting our daily lives...and USCIS doesn't give two shakes of a rat's tail about it...

I presume the problem was that she didn't have a green card rather than not having a resident alien number which she will have. Is that correct?

This is all very frustrating.

Okay guys so i've done a little research of my own. After getting a PM from TrixieStep I decided to look into something. I found out that although our EADs/APs are processed at the NBC in Lee's Summit, at some point down the line they DID indeed start sending them off to your local field office, I have a little proof of this too, the person from China that posted just before Christmas saying they got the Card production notice said they were a February filer, their local field office is the same as mine (Dallas), if I look over at the Dallas Field Office processing times as of December 23rd they were processing February 2014 files, this lines up perfectly.

If that is the case I urge you all to check processing times on your local field office on the USCIS website, those of you in or near Dallas that applied for your AOS around April time like myself, its looking like we'll get our cards in March..

Now I could be completely wrong with this information but its just something I thought makes sense... still sucks because my medical will run out at the end of the month and knowing my luck i'll have to redo it

I totally agree with you. My local field office is Philadelphia PA and they are currently processing May 17 filers. I believe February/March/April come before May.. Regardless, I'm not too sure about this update, even though they say the same thing when you call them about the last three letters of your service requests (asking why it's different every time?). My case is supposedly at NBC & I had 3 service requests (so far)... the first & last requests ended with PHI letters for PHILADELPHIA, but the second one (that they replied with a "keep on waiting") ended with MSC. I called them to ask about this inconsistency, they said that down the line your case gets forwarded to your local field office for final decision if MSC approves all background checks... Hope this helps or makes sense to you

When I first applied for AOS in June, the processing timeframe for my local office (Columbus, OH) was in January. It's since seemed to have quickened, and it's now down at 4 months. Still, I've heard nothing after receiving a NPIW letter back in October.

Reasonable to guess that mine is being handled at the NBC.

AOS:

NOA: June 16th, 2014

NPIW: September 29th, 2014

Received Green Card: June 13th, 2015.

California Service Center

Submitted: March 22nd, 2017

Completed: October 5th, 2018

N-400:

Submitted: December 11th, 2019

Biometrics: December 31st, 2019

Interview: April 22nd, 2020

Interview descheduled and now waiting for further updates...

Yep Natonstan, my medical will expire this month too.....

I remember I did my medical in January and then my interview was Feb 19th

I wish they would give us some TRANSPARENCY. why the people with genuine cases have to wait while they interview the red flagged people first baffles me.

Got to have the patience of a saint to go through this process...

all the people on the phones can tell us is "oh make a service request" which from what we have seen doesn't really ....tell us anything....

what if we all did an info pass? or would be just get told the same old same old "we're working on it I promise!!!!!!! (We just let 10000 people cut ahead of you in line tho soz)"

This is beyond ridiculous! They are messing with peoples lives, especially if we have to have another medical exam and pay for it! I agree with the group info-pass or even a class action law suit. Would that even be possible? I feel like they are putting us through undue stress for long periods of time and we have absolutely no recourse! I did not use an immigration attorney but I would jump on a class action law suit if it would somehow get this ball rolling and prevent future couples from having to deal with this situation. I just can't believe how easy it is for people committing fraud or illegal aliens, and us genuine couples who have paid an arm and a leg and filled out countless forms are still waiting with no clear answer on how or why....

My husband is an aerospace engineer but he can't get a job in his field without the green card, so he had to accept a position in a different field that pays less. And I saw someone else say that we will have to wait longer to apply for citizenship, but from what I saw on the USCIS page you can apply three years after the date of marriage. Is that correct? Can anyone please confirm?

Let's hope that the USCIS made new years resolutions to actually do their jobs!

Your impression is correct. NPWI cases are retained by NBC in Lee's Summit, MO until they are dispersed (drip, drip, drip) at the time of their choosing to a field office with the lowest work load (because they know right now that the vase majority of us will not be interviewed - if we were we would have gotten an invitation and a GC in our hand by now). This is what I was told by a Tier 2 representative when I called regarding my recent service request. He said that the NYC at the end of my Request # was NOT an indicator of the location of my case file, it was the location of the local field office that services the geopraphical region in which we live. My file at that time was (and probably still is at this moment) gathering dust in MO like all the rest of our files. You've all got to understand that the I-485 Processing Times at local field offices on the USCIS site are misleading and have nothing to do with us. (They appear to me to be much akin to the VA appointment lists that were lost in drawers - these dates generate bonuses for executives and hide the true situation that we all are experiencing.) If they did, we'd have our GC by now. But you say to USCIS that your case is beyond the processing time at your local field office; however their answer is that it is not at your field office and there is no processing date listed for family based I-485's at NBC, so sit back and wait somemore...

Being on the NPWI list is like being a member of the First Wives Club, however we have no chance for "revenge"...

I presume the problem was that she didn't have a green card rather than not having a resident alien number which she will have. Is that correct?

This is all very frustrating.

Derwood, that is a good question. I was told permanent residence but they asked for a Resident Alien number. Is the number on our offical documents for AOS (the one beginning with "A" followed by many numbers) our resident alien number? Is this the number that will be on my wife's GC? Can anyone who's gotten a GC and still hangs around tell us whether the # on their GC is the same as the number issued during the AOS filing (and is displayed at the top of the NPWI Letter above your MSC receipt number).

No, it's 3 years from the date you were granted permanent residency (or 5 years if you are no longer married to a US citizen).

This makes me angrier than any of the other reasons why we're getting screwed. Can't we just waive the right to have our interview waived?! This situation is total bs, and we're not even several MONTHS into the process like some of you. Our letter is dated November 12th. Grrrrrrrrr I guess we can just assume that he won't have citizenship for another 5 years. Dicks.
