Does anyone actually know if you can request to have your case sent to your local office and go through the interview process? I don't want to go through the waiver process because it clearly is months longer than those who actually got sent straight for interviews!

I stepped away from the forums for a while because I decided to try not to worry so much about the waiting, in a way I was kinda relieved to get the waiver letter because now I know why it's taking so long,

but at the end of the day, at least this isn't as painful as the K1 process. We get to be with our husband and wives and this whole thing goes from being a constant worry (like it is with the K1) to just a nagging feeling in the back of our minds

Though, I do feel in a way like we are all being delayed even though we did the right thing. Applied for the K1, waited patiently, came over correctly and did our AOS papers on time

Whereas you get people who come over on the VWP, and overstay on purpose to run around the K1 requirement to get married and then file AOS, and they go and get AOS approved faster than we do!! While all of us who did the K1 get this letter and have to wait an additional 6 or so months.

I'm glad we did this the right way, but I'm not gonna lie, makes me kinda mad that the people who took a "shortcut" get there first...I don't mean to offend anybody but surely I can't be alone in thinking this :S

It is frustrating isn't it Otter~. Whilst I understand that people do come to the U.S. without the intention to marry and suddenly fall in love, decide to get married and then stay as they can't bare to be separated from their significant other, the way in which their cases appear to get processed faster is a little bit difficult to swallow. On the flip side of the coin, I can understand why USCIS want to process them faster as I suppose there's a greater risk of them getting deported. I do think that at the very least the 'Resident from date' on the green card should be backdated to the date of marriage. At this rate we will have been married a year before the damn green card comes. Oh well nothings spoiling I suppose! :-)

The wait goes on (and on)! I start two new jobs next week so pleased to have something new to occupy my time.

By the way, does anyone know if the medical becoming over a year old matters?

Your medical is valid as long as your AOS was filed before it expired. But then I've seen some people here waiting a long time and getting RFEd for new medicals, so who knows?

2013 7/15 I-129F sent, 7/18 received Dallas lockbox, 7/22 NOA1, 10/22 NOA2, 11/15 NVC Case Created, 11/20 NVC Shipped, 11/25 Consulate received, 11/28 Packet 3 received/returned, 11/29 Medical, 12/9 Packet 4 received

2014 1/9 Interview - Approved, 1/15 CEAC - Issued, 1/17 Visa in hand, 2/5 POE: LAX, 4/4 Married!, 4/8 AOS/EAD/AP filed, 4/14 NOA1, 5/7 Walk-in biometrics, 5/19 EAD/AP approved (expedited), 5/22 EAD/AP mailed, 5/23 EAD/AP received, 7/29 Interview waiver letter

2015 4/13 AOS approved (no interview), 4/22 Green card received

2017 1/17 I-751 ROC filed (VSC), 1/23 NOA, 2/28 Biometrics

2018 1/31 ROC approved

2020 1/14 N400 filed

I wish. I'd rather have 10 interviews than a long wait, but unfortunately it is not something that you can request.

Did you call USCIS to request Expedite due to the fact that your application is more than 6 months from the date of receiving potential interview waiver letter?

New Journey AOS:

My fiancee came to US on the 8th of March, 2014 under K-1 visa at Newark, NJ Airport for POE.

Applied Social Security Number on the 10 of March, 2014.

Married on the 13th of March, 2014.

Sent I-485, I-765, and I-131 on the 15th of March, 2014.

Received EAD on June 7, 2014.

Received Notice of Potential Interview Waiver on July 1, 2014 date 6/27

Contacted Ombudsman on 01/12/2015.

Ombudsman contacted USCIS on 02/20/2015.

Ombudsman sent a follow up to USCIS on 03/18/2015.

I-485 approved on 03/31/2015 ( we ordered your card).

Welcome notice was mailed on 04/01/2015.

Received Welcome Notice on 04/08/2015.

Card was mailed to me/picked up by USPS on 04/08/2015.

Received GC on 4/10/2015.

as far as I know you cannot request such a thing. but i just called them, and uscis representative made a service request and told me to give it 15 to 30 days. While I was waiting I also contacted senator's office and they received an update on my case saying that my application is pending and that processing times in a local office right now is 9-12 months.

Since I didn't hear from uscis after 30 days, I called them again today asking about service request that was made over a month ago. The lady said that my case is outside normal processing times (which confused me because senator's representatives received an answer saying that processing time is 9-12 months), and she also said that they haven't received a response on the service request, so she created a new one and told me to wait 15-30 days.

I wonder what USCIS actually do with these potential interview waiver cases and I speak from a K1 basis.

We've been through a consular interview at the embassy and a visa has been issued. As part of that process our backgrounds in our home country e.g. criminal history, health etc have been checked and deemed to be acceptable. We've had our fingerprints taken at least three times. We've provided a marriage certificate and an affidavit of support. As part of EAD/AP an FBI name and fingerprint check have been run and come back clear. Our cases have been selected as 'potential interview waivers' so they must have looked at the case in some manner to make the decision that they are probably suitable for waiver.

When the case lands on the USCIS officers desk what exactly are they checking? What's left to do? They have no 'evidence' of a relationship to look at other than that we submitted with the K1 package. Is it taking them nine months to press the 'Approve' button?

It seems to me as if a computer program could do this for them and it wouldn't take nine months.

If I'm missing something here PLEASE enlighten me!

I've been thinking the same, there's absolutely nothing that I can think of that could explain why this process could take a whole year, I understand they have a LOT of cases but it's not like there's one person accepting them, and for there to be absolutely no movement, like my case hasn't been touched since may, this is unexplainable
